Okay, got an estimate for 6k service for s2r1000. Was told it'll be 1000-1200 depending if I need the belts done. Seem right? If so anyone handy at this stuff that can do this for a decent price for me? I really can't afford to put 1000 on it right now. You think a regular shop will be able to do it for a more reasonable price? Thank you for all your help

That's way more than I'm ever willing to pay. Who's quoting you that much? Have you tried Steve and Jay @ ECS up in Middleton NY?

You can do it yourself for about $300 bucks in stuff, ($120 belts, $100 possible in shims.... and the rest are for tools and fluids) Look below theres a thread about a tech day in CT, maybe that would be a good time to show up and do the 6k.

Oh boy, please don't tell me it's that much.  Middletown is too far.  I don't have the tools or space to do my own, nevermind knowledge of how to.  Got plenty of time though with only 2500 miles so far.

You don't need more than $100 in tools.

Hex Key set (Ball socket/T-ball/L-Ball prefered) $30
Feeler gauges @$10
Sand paper @$5
Closing shim measuring tool @$20
3/8" torque wrench @$50
Shims @ $8.50 per @ EMS
Belts @ $120 a pair
Clutch Fluid @ $5 per quart (if there is no air, you can do it manually within 10 mins)
Oil and Filter up to $60 (Costco Mobil 1 +Ducati Oil filter costs me $25 a change, Dry clutch only)
Laptop and Mic to tune your belts
And $30-50 to have your local Duc tech to do the throttle body sync, CO2.

Thers also a bunch of things you should check every 6k, you can get a list if you search the web.

Try gold coast motorsports if you don't want to try ECS.  Call them and ask for an estimate.  And what year is your S2R1k?  If its an 07+ your service isn't till 7500miles.

Thank you very much for all your info and insight. I will look up more info on it. I stopped at gold coast and was told min 700 with no adjustments and 1k for all adjusments plus 200 for belts. If there is someone local that can do it in their garage ill pay for your services. Feel free to pm me with prices. I'll see if I can goto ct that day, but I'll have to take a day off work and sont even know if they'll give me the day off. Thanks again he man. Hope you're healing up good. I think I'll pregnant dog and moan to get the 18th off so I can goto the meet. If not I'll just call in for an emergency day. It is an emergency right? Gotta get the service done. Even if its too much work to be done that day I'm guessing its a good time to meet people and get a lot of useful info from everyone there.  So much to learn about these bikes

ECS is worth the trip, more for the care and quality work you will get than the savings.  It really isn't that far and if you leave the bike, the train ride back to the city is pleasant, quick and cheap.
