ok, i certainly don't want to be a hater, especially on a place so damn close to my house, but someone who knows the owner/manager of that place better than me needs to have a serious talk with him about BEER.  It's not just the selection, it's the quality.  I tried twice with the franziskaner, first time flat/wattery/sweet, second time just wattery/sweet.  Something is amiss there.  The first guiness I had was good, the second was flat, and I had to switch to prosecco and NEWCASTLE, for f~ck's sake.

Marty?  somebody?  who knows this guy...  is DJ Lowside on the board?  he must know him...  anyone?

If we can't resolve this, I'm going to have to cancel their bike night franchise.

damn. shitty beer is no good. i've had some off-tasting beers before, and it can only be blamed on the establishment really. The producers of the libations are pretty good about quality control.

svoloch

the people there are REALLY nice, and very accomodating.  When it started raining they offered to pull my bike INSIDE.  I told them it was fine, and my bike can certainly withstand water, but I appreciated their willingness to jump in and help.  The manager offered to lock my bike inside the restaurant if I wanted to leave while it was still raining, but the rain did not last long, and I would never leave my bike...

so, if we can get more variety of beer, and better quality, I'm all in.

Yeah, I wouldn't leave mine either, but that's pretty cool of them to offer. Too bad I'm in class from 7:50 to 9:15p on Tuesday Thursdays. This was a horrible play call on my part.

Think its dirty taps? Did the Guiness foam appropriately? Being a nitro beer, its a little different than the other brews.

svoloch

I'm assuming that they don't know how to maintain them...  I could be wrong, but i've heard others suggest they had bad Franziskaner there also.

Maybe I'll buy one in a bottle and go there to show them the comparo.

I know you guys have gone there before. Is this the first time you have noticed bad beer? Are they consistently good/bad or was this maybe an off night? Still, one Guinness good then the next one funky? What's up with that?

Certainly was nice of them to offer your shit hot Xerox shelter from the storm. [thumbsup] Reminds me of a Stones song! Did everyone else notice the beer issue or are your taste buds starting to go too? ... you know I couldn't just sit here and let that go. [laugh]

Is next Thursday still on or are they jinxed and off the list?

svoloch

next thursday is still on.  you may rely upon my taste buds and beers ( particularly german beers ), but others have reported franziskaner funkiness before.  in fact, I would advise relying upon my beer knowledge and expertise above your own.  Please feel free to call me anytime, recite to me the beer menu, and I will tell you what to drink.

Beer pregnant doging aside for the moment  [laugh]  [drink]  [beer] I thought the spirited group we had last night was great! Bryant, Marty, Mr. DJ Lowside (nice guy BTW) and Patrick and I. I had a great time riding over from Ft. Worth and a great time talking with everyone. Hot babes showed up later too! Anyway we all sat and talked about all the local and international motorcycling problems. We solved the mystery of the unrideable Ducati MotoGP bike.  Along with putting forth a solid plan for development riders program within Team Ducati Corse. The Jap manufacturers are only temporarily in the lead I think. Better days for Ducati. I think we solved most of the problems for all current manufacturerers and their riders. With all the WSBK and MoGP talk there was not a definate consensus on who will win this years Champs. And, got the cool poop on the insiders talk about what's going on locally. (I'm sworn to secrecy under penalty of death) So, my take on the night was awesome night! I sure thought Petro was going to be there since he panned The Amsterdam Bar so harshly
((poke-smiley) JK guys)

Sorry I didn't taste the F-izinger beer thingy but did imbibe upon the Stella Artoise which was very crisp and quite tasty IMHO. Do you think it could have been because they just don't sell much of it and it's the sort of beer that needs to be consumed quickly? I am not familiar with that beer. I did however the other day The Press Box downtown try a selection with the Monk on it, I can't remember the name a really dark porter tasting sort served up in a Chimay glass (small) and was not impressed with it either. Flat, very hoppy and sweetish to the taste. I then had to have a fresh carbonated Coors to wash the gluey taste from my pallet. Of course I would never compare the two but I had to have something to wash down silt.
