The EXO700 is Snell-certified, right?  If so, they're harder and will transfer more energy to your head.  Try a helmet that is ECE2205 certified.

Or Snell2010 which is softer than Snell2005

I dont think there is a Snell 2010 helmet out there yet. but even then, the standards of the M2010 arent close to the ECE22-05.

Im looking only for helmets that have a DOT and ECE2205 cert. Snell hurts my head....litterally. My Scoprion EXO700 was M2000. So its even harder yet.

edit: Just called up Revzilla, even though its on close out, they are accepting returns and exchanges, so im sending the RSI back.

Does anyone know how the RSR2 fits? I really like shark helmets. Lightweight and the padding inside looks like it can really help when i crash again.

I have an RSR2.  It fits me fine.

compared to?

I called up Sportbiketrackgear.com, the guy said that, with the RSI, he can pucker his lips and touch the chin bar. with the RSR2, he cant. So I'm more than likely going to pick up an RSR2. They have a nice black one at motorcyclecloseouts.com for $229, and I submitted a price match with Revzilla.

Is the RSR2 as light as they claim it to be? Cause the RSI is INSANELY light weight!

Shoei RF1000, Scorpion EXO-700/1000, Shoei flip-up, Caberg Brutus, Caberg Justissimo,...

But how a helmet fits me has little to do with how it fits you.

Sportbiketrackgear.com has good service/communication FWIW.

Good luck with the lid!

Scorpion EXO700 is a perfect fit for me. Shoei RF1000 is a little roomy in the cheeks. So it sounds like the RSR2 will fit me fine. I exchanged my RSI for a Pilot Road 2 front, and im going to get the RSR2. SBTG said it would fit me much better than the RSI too. So lets see!

i would have to say that a snell certified helmet that fits properly, will probably do a better job of protecting your noggin than an ECE or DOT one that does NOT fit properly. just something to keep in mind...

Two things:

1) You can't feel pain in your brain lobes - there are no pain-sensing nerves in your brain (ironically enough).  What you were feeling was a bump on the head.

2) After this experience which should underscore the importance of good fit, you go and buy a helmet online because it was cheap and you think it should fit based on reviews?

so, what's the perfect fit for a helmet.. tight all around with out letting it hit you lips? if it does, you may have a permanent gap?

i have a helmet here, fits pretty tight.. i got it for when drag racing the car.. some times it feels too tight though.. but i don't wear it much, especially since the cars new set up isn't done yet.. so it hasn't stretched at all..

In my experience, helmets that felt tight at first have always felt tight - I've never had one loosen up or stretch on me.

2) You trying to say something with that attitude?

Is there something wrong with buying a helmet based on reviews on how it fits? There's this thing called RETURNS AND EXCHANGES. Whats wrong with a discounted helmet? I RETURNED my RSI (DISCOUNTED) and bought an RSR2 (also DISCOUNTED). It fits GREAT all around because the reviews of it compared to helmets i have worn. Should I return it because you think its stupid to buy online based on fitment reviews and cause it was discounted? Should I be forced to buy whats at my dealer that is out of my price range and in limited selection?

your definitely right. I've tried on over 10 helmets in the past weeks since i went down. I went down to a small and XS in certain models. But for the added security, i picked up a helmet that i think is safer based on my research on safety standards each helmet uses...however thats up to debate.

A good fitting helmet should move with your head. This is how i determined what fit for me.

1) put the helmet on and move your head side to side. if the helmet continues to slide when your head stops. Try a smaller size of differnt shape
2) put your palm  above your visor and try to push the ehlmet down. see if it slides off the back of your head.  If the helmet hits your nose in anyway try a smaller size or shape (however id push for a different shape helmet if that happens)
3) Press the chin guard up against your face. if the chinguard touches your lips, try a different size or shape.

If you bite your cheeks and its causing you to bleed or catch your skin, its too tight or too narrow for you. You should have your cheeks squished, but just enough so that you dont bite your cheek.

last but not least, this is just me, but i like to put the helmet on and go into a full tuck. Some helmets just dont feel good in the full tuck position becaus it hits your jacket. Hope this helps.
