I need your help :)  I've found the perfect bike near Portland ;D, but I have two problems :-\...In order to get it and have my dad still help me with my college tuition, I need someone who can judge if it is working well and knows a mechanic I can take it to...He wants to make sure that it is in good condition and needs to have someone familiar with monsters to make sure there is nothing out of the ordinary.  The second problem is that I live 3-4 hours away and need someone that could either transport it for me or help me load it.  I would prefer if someone could do me a HUGE favor by transporting it cause I'll have to make a second trip out there to pick it up :(.  If someone is willing to transport it we can work out gas money and beer/whatever works [thumbsup].  This will be my first monster and even better my first bike!!!! ;D
This site is bad for me.....It makes me want to spend thousands of dollars that I do not have XD

i know this isnt what you asked for, but at 19 years old and a first rider get yourself a beat up POS for your first bike.  The insurance alone on that bike at your age is going to kill you, unless your dad is paying for everything then screw it go for it.  [beer]

I wanted to start out on a CB750 and turn it into a cafe bike, but he said that as long as I pay for the bike myself, he would pay for insurance and gas.  He's really weird about these things.  He thinks that just because the bikes I was looking at were from the 80's, that they would fall apart.  All I can say is that I'm not complaining  [beer]

There are three places in Portland that could take a look at it for you:
MotoCorsa  503-297-7488
Cheshire Motorsports  503-231-2769
Vicious Cycle  503-285-8824

I'm sure you could arrange to have the owner take it over there and then pay them by phone to look it over.  Tell them you want to know what kind of shape it's in, any problems it has, and any work it will need.  It's usually an hour or two of labor to look a bike over and worth it if you're unsure and can't do it yourself.

As for transporting, just rent a U-Haul with a loading ramp and get some ratcheting tie downs, not hard at all.  It's good to have someone help you load and unload so you don't drop it.

And make sure you sign up for a Team Oregon riding class if you haven't already.  Rider training is the best insurance.

Let us know who owns the bike and/or what size/model/color/year it is and we (the peeps from PDX) might already know a bit about its history. If it is a monster I suggest you try to get in touch with Arun at Motocorsa as he knows just about eveybody in the area with a monster, and is familiar with their bikes. If we know this bike you are looking at we may even be able to tell you how it has been ridden, and what kind of maintenance it has had (ie: tender loving care, or beat the shit out of).

It's a 2005 red S2R 800 with white wheels and stripe and has arrow exhaust ;D.  The guys name who is selling it is Zac and is in Milwaukie.  I just didn't want to give out too much info about it because I can't get out there for a few weeks and I don't want to have someone buy it out from under me. :-\

well I talked to the seller and he has two other guys coming by to look at the bike before I can go on the 15th...I don't like to hope for flaky people, but I hope that these two are.  If all goes well, I'll be getting a new bike soon ;D

EDIT: If everything works out is someone willing to transport it to my uncle's house in Portland?
