Everyone knows Americans are all wrapped a little too tight therefore we drink too much and act like idiots. Which is fine if we keep it at home. What's sad is when we go to other countries and act like assholes over there. It's one thing for people to think you are a drunken idiot... it's another thing to actually prove it to them! [bang] [drink] :P

damn, Giannis, I would spend my whole life in Greek coffee houses if I could get away with it...  I need to sell off some of Brian's stuff and get my butt over there...

Glad you are enjoying being home, man!

stereotype IMO.  I've been drunk twice and neither was overseas.  That said we, American's, are certainly wound-up WAY too tight.  I miss the "easier" pace overseas but I think things are catching on here with 9/80 work weeks coming around and Utah in the lead.

Some of the best riding times I have ever had were in Europe. I have only had the luck to go once and it was on a 3+ week motorcycle tour of Switzerland, France and northern Italy in the summer of 1989. Damn, 20 freaking years ago? How can that be?? Rented a Kawi Concours in Horgen, Switzerland and absolutely loved every damn minute of it. Learned real fast not to tell folks that we were Americans (duh... they could tell it a half mile off!) but that we were Texans! Made all the difference in the world!! People didn't give a s#@t about others on the tour but they took pics of us because we were from Texas! Some Swiss police pulled our group over for a "paper check" once and when they found out we were Texans out came their cameras so they could take pics of each other hanging with the Cowboys!! My first wife was smart enough to take a bunch of colored bandannas. She'd been to Spain before for school and knew that folks would go crazy over a dollar bandanna from Texas. It was like giving them a Stetson and a pair of ostrich ropers!! Those Swiss cops probably have those bandannas framed on the wall to this day!! [laugh] Made me damn proud to be from here! Normal Americans do not get that kind of respect. Shame...

I've never ridden in Europe  [bang]

That being said, I've been all over the damn place ( Germany, Holland, Czech, France, Italy, Russia ), am obviously American, but have nearly always been treated very well no matter where I went.  I've been to multiple countries south of the border ( Mexico, Guatemala, Peru ), one north of the border ( duh ), and multiple parts of Asia ( Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan ).

Nearly everywhere I went, people have been cool.  Even during the Bush era.

In fact, what the hell am I still doing here with all you assholes?

That's because you are a seemingly nice person with no affiliation with the W Bush administration. You gave off no hostile vibes. I could see me screwing up most of the diplomatic immunity we have with those countries had I been involved in your travels. The words "nuke them from orbit" come to mind. Better your influence than mine. Even with the whole Texan thing I am sure I am still banned from most European countries. [laugh]
