I think the 690 Supermoto is the nicest (only my opinion of course) of all the KTM offerings in this size/class.  Too bad they quit bringing these bikes stateside.

2 questions ----

When you are working on the sticky shifter problems are you removing the flywheels to get the eccentrics centered properly?

If someone bought a new bike from the dealer and had it serviced only at the dealer for it's entire life (apart from, say, an oil change here and there) would it still be shop policy to not work on the bike after it was ten years old?

yes i do remove the flywheel.

and

the ten year policy seems to have gone out the window, but regardless, i would and do.

i am sure you understand that these policies come and go depending on the service manager at the time.
the way i really look at it is, i would work on anything, but a lot of things come into play that put certain bikes at priority.

hey Will, i just wanted to say thanks again for getting the oil leak sorted out on my GFs 696
and tweaking my my rear suspension a tiny bit on the 848, hopefully i wont "have" to see you again in the next 6900 miles

7,130 Ducati Superbikes are being recalled because of voltage regulators that could be damaged from the mighty v-twins radiant heat. Ducati 1098 and 848 owners will have to take their bike into the dealer to have the regulator replaced, a heat shield installed between the voltage regulator and the exhaust pipping, and have a new battery support installed.

This recall specifically affects:

    2007-2008 Ducati 1098
    2007-2008 Ducati 1098S
    2007-2008 Ducati 1098 R
    2007-2008 Ducati 1098 Tricolore
    2008-2009 Ducati 848

does not affect you at all, yours was ok from the factory.
another issue that was beeing fixed a year before the recall.
