Hi Guys,

I'm not a Monster owner yet but hoping to be soon!  I've just passed my test and hoping to get a Ducati Monster but wanted to get as much information as possible and this seemed like a good place to start to get an idea of what to look out for in a second hand bike and any tips from those that know!

Any guidance much appreciated!

Welcome to the DMF!  Congrats on passing your test. [thumbsup]

Are there specific models and/or bikes that you're keeping your eye on?  Maybe a used 620?

Anyway, you want to check out any signs of possible crash damage, if it is a more recent model with the immobilizer than make SURE that you get the red key and code card with it.  I'd suggest looking for one with a metal tank if possible as there have been issues with the plastic tanks on the newer bikes.  And make sure you find out what kind of maintenance has been done on the bike, and on what schedule.

You might want to also post your question in the General forum, you'll get more responses over there.

Just as somegirl( I missed the veggie tray) said, if they have what maintenance was done and by whom would be a big thing so you know where the bike stands and what it needs. Signs of crashes as well--bent bars, shifters, levers, dented tank, etc.

Good luck with your search and let us know (with pics) if you get one [thumbsup]

Thanks for the advice  [thumbsup]-budget is dictating it's likely to be a 620 -I'm hoping if I can hold off for a couple of months I may be able to pick up something cheaper and it gives me a bit of time to look about.

I will post in the main forum too -thanks
