How to clean white wheels?

Maybe this should go in the How-To forum, but I have a S2R with the white wheels and I can't get them 100% clean for the life of me.

I bought the bike used and on the front wheel, is some black stuff (looks like liquid that dried on there) that WILL NOT come off. I have tried Simple Green with a tooth brush, Wheel cleaner, hot water and soap. Nothing can cut through it.

So.....any ideas? Don't say repaint the wheels or any of that mess either. I'll post pics when I get home from the office.

Someone else on here, I think it was Someguy, used S-100 on his.  Posted pics and they looked real clean.

I wonder how S100 differs from normal automotive wheel cleaner. If they don't differ much then I doubt it will work.

How about Goo Gone?  That works wonders on the tar that gets on the car.

No, it wasn't S-100.  That didn't work all that well.

matte black wheels look 'tits' on all bikes that are sporty. I know, I know, I like the white look also - for show bikes. If you are riding, they need to be a color that doesn't require constant cleaning to keep them from looking like hell.

Before I bought my black '07, I looked at a red one with the white wheels. They do look tits, when they are clean. But I just kept thinking "Man those are gonna get dirty." How often do you need to clean them if you think about it, if you keep riding they will get dirty. It's the whole "Catch-22", I say clean them up as much as possible but why go crazy spend more time riding.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot!

I also wipe down my wheels and bike after EVERY ride :)

You might try Prep Sol. That's a clear liquid cleaner that's usaed on metal before it's primed or painted. I've always used it to take off tar from my white wheels on my S4Rs . Also A good Carnuba paste wax will usually work as well like Zymol. I've used the product misincredible suggested and it works well. I've found that once the wheels are clean if you wax them with carnuba wax that when they get dirty they will clean up with mild soap and water ( except for tar ).

Goo Gone. Works wonders and will get them 100% until you drive off.
