so i bought my s4rs and the 696 in march from my local dealer....
took delivery of my s4rs 1 week ago , loving it....
been back to the dealer several times over the past week, ordering parts, picking up leathers, etc....
when i bought the bikes in march, cash, the salesman assured it would be no problem to
take delivery of the red/ red frame 696 in time for my week trip to north carolina mountain ride 1st week of june.
as of friday, they have recieved no reds; theyve got 3 blacks and three whites...
salesman called me in a minor panic yesterday while we were out shopping,
said he woke up 3 am with a brainflash.
theyll give me the white or black one to take to carolina for the week,
and then swap me the red plastics whenever the red bikes arrive....
what do you think about a red bike with a black frame...?
i paid him asking price on the 696 but made it up on the s4rs and leathers, etc....
they ARE trying.
should i just hold out for the red/ red....?

Red on black sounds like a winner to me..
Red on Red seems a little much to me.

I agree, red on black would look nice.
I have no idea what you are talking about....

the question is this. does changing the color have to be reported to the dmv. i know when you paint a car, you have to notify the dmv and the insurance company. thats one thing, but really, even if you don't get it for your trip, you should hold out for what you want. in a couple of months this time period will be behind you and you will have you red on red machine you wanted. the fact that you wanted one in the first place is another story :-[

Yeah, get what you want, but red on black sounds pretty sweet.  I have red on red s2r and a red on black subframe would look pretty sick.  even better I like the black tank on red subframe.  You already have the s4rs, ride that meng.

imo the red on black sounds sweet, i love the white though. i would say go for it though, u can get the bike, then trade out the plastics. also the red bike that you get your plastics from will then get the black plastics, mmm black on red. sounds 620ishly awesome

There seem to be tons of white ones and some red/black ones, but if you can get a red/red one I think it'll be more unique so it might be worth holding out for.  At least the shop is trying to please you.  Worst situation (for now) is that you're stuck riding the S4RS.  How bad can that be?
If it's got two wheels and a motor, I like it!

Red on black sound like a nice option [thumbsup]

I made this chart a while back.

This should help you visualize and make your decision  [thumbsup]

I made this chart a while back.

Great chart!!!

I dig the black or white plastics on the red frame... but then again... I have monochrome envy. :)

lazarus7

Red/black looks better than red/red IMO.

But wait for what YOU want.

OddBall

I'm partial to the white/red.

If all red is what you want hold out for it. They look pretty good in person. That's the color of my local dealer's demo. If you find the red/black combo agreeable, go get your bike now.

Brett

Red/Black looks great, plus you would be "original".

I am curious, what dealer in Atlanta did you buy from?

2001 BMW 330ci - GruppeM, ACS Exhaust, 2006 Ducati S2R 800 - Bone stock for now....

lazarus7

no, im on the west coast of florida....
when i bought the bikes the tricolore was the only one available in the s4rs...
just really didnt do anything for me....
dealer traded with a duc shop in atlanta who was a buddy of his...
for my brand new in the crate 2007 red/ white that atlanta had in storage....
which im LOVING btw.....
