He learned that it isn't a good idea to show me beautiful fast Italian machines.  There was a new Bugatti Veyron there for sale that I fell in love with and want really bad. I put it on my Christmas list.  He had to admit it was a little out of his budget  :(

Italian?

Bugatti is a German company headquartered in France.

Either way, it's an awesome car.

Hey hey hey! Be nice or you'll reap the wrath of Monster Dave!!!

If you get a chance to watch the BBC show "Top Gear" you'd be very familiar with the Bugatti Veyron as these guy's absolutely drool over it.
They also have some great race advendures across France against a plane, etc....

In a recent episode they mentioned that it was in fact made as a "test" car by VW engineering group at a cost of 5M per car ( I think there are only 6 made) but sell it at 800K (go figure that one).

Bottom line I think we all agree it has to be currently the most "amazing" production car to me made to date. [thumbsup]

Let the debate begin...................

From reading the previous posts, I feel that I need to do the right thing and introduce myself and answer that nagging question.

My name's Jeff Devine.  Yes, I am the clubs new president.  Yes, the club was down for a while, but we've managed to resurrect what was once gone so I would prefer to leave the past where it is...in the past.  The future's much brighter anyway gents.   Ok, now that this is out of the way, let's get down to business.

For everyones info, I spoke with the promoter of the Concorso Arizona yesterday afternoon (Tuesday October 20th) and have secured a space for the Desert Ducatisti booth and our bikes, meaning that they've given us the opportunity to display our bikes alongside other Italian finery.  Now I don't know who of you are members, no longer wish to be members, or are considering joining, but if you would like to come down and join us at the show, you are more than welcome.  Now for the caveat.

Because the promotors have been gracious enough in providing us a "merchants" space at no cost to the club (a $400.00 value), and because the event supports the local chapter of the Make A Wish Foundation, the promotors are requesting that each bike that enters the show register on-line and pay the $30.00 registration fee.  The fee gets both you and your bike into the show for the entire day.  IF they follow the same format they did last time, your bike (not you) will be judged at the end of the day and small trophy awarded to the winning entrant.  They've requested that all participants arrive no later 8:00 AM the morning of the show and leave once the show has concluded which is expected to be at 2:00 PM that afternoon.  The club and several of it's members attended the show a couple of years back when it was held at Diablo Stadium which was a fantastic time.  And of course the bikes raised a lot of interest as well.  We currently have a total of 5 bikes which are scheduled to attend and would like more, so if you're interested in registering your bike and would like to show it off for all to see, start waxing now and let me know who wants to go. I'll have a chase truck following the rest of us to the show carrying a cooler and chairs, so if you would like, we can pack a chair and a couple of drinks for you if you would like to join in on the fun.   Thanks guys!
J. Devine

I'm excited for this.

Although, I won't be bringing my Ducati. Instead, I'll be showing up in my minivan. [thumbsup]

I don't care how the doors open, minivans are still the lamest autos on the road.  [puke]

I agree, that's why my goal is to get one of these bad boys:

I used to think that, too ... before I became a minivan convert.

And when we bought our minivan, our other car was a BMW 7 series. I say that so you give me some credit before disregarding my minivan preference.

Now, before we got a minivan, my wife and I had the SUV versus minivan debate many times over. And ultimately I said to myself, I'll keep my wife happy and get what she wants. And I gotta tell you, I'm glad I did.

Aside from the inability to go off-road like an SUV can, the minivan is awesome. Not just for the millions of mom-friendly features throughout the entire car and how easy it is to get kids in and out, but also for performance.

Also, my wife and kids were in a very serious accident about a year ago where our first minivan was totaled, and they all walked out of there without a scratch. The minivan is an amazing vehicle.

I challenge anyone to go down to a Honda dealership, drive the new 2010 Honda Odyssey, and say they're not impressed.

There's a video floating around somewhere where a guy races a Honda Odyssey with some gilrs in the back vs. a guy driving an old muscle car around and autocross course.  The Honda totaly won, better handling, better brakes, etc.  The girls looked a little shook up though.  :D

Now I have heard it all. Someone used the words performance and amazing when describing a minivan.    [laugh] [clap]
