Just a reminder in the hot weather not to park on bitumen in the sun.
Went up the old road today with Dezmonster good run too, warm but good
Didn't see any [leo]. [moto]
Stopped at warriors on the way back for tea and scones.
Met up with Craigo he was there with  few mates.
The car/ bike park was full as,
No shady spots, parked over in the sun on a little angle didn't even think about it.
Sittin there having a chat and then crash ar'r sounds like a bike fell over.
Straight away looked at mine and words can't explain as it was my precious
on the ground tit's up :'(
The stand sunk into the bitumen, my worst night mare and i had a puck with me, no good in your pocket [bang]
First thing was that's not going to be cheap and what did it do to Dez's
bike.
I was very lucky this time just scraped Dez's bike no damage.
And few love scratches  for me . Just scratched the mirror case end
Bent the clutch leaver, scratched the bar end . bent the gear shifter
scratched the rear set and a rivet on the termi.
Not to sure about the bars as yet look ok.
And not one mark on the tank :o bloody amazing. ;D
There is a God [thumbsup]

Guess what i did for the rest of the day?
All fixed new rivet in the termi an a bit of wet and dry and metal polish all good.
straightened the the lever an shifter as new and turned the bar end around can't see the scratches, a liitle wet and dry on the plastic bits and metal polish to rub out the scratches  all good.8)

OMG! Sounds like you were lucky (if you can call it that). At the start of your post, I had this terrible visual of your bike playing dominos with other bikes parked next to you. I'm sorry to hear that this happened to you. I think it might be time for me to buy one of those pucks you mentioned. Thanks for sharing your experience. [bang]

At first I thought it was going to be a parking ticket thing.
Then I read a ride on a hot day and I knew you were going to say hot bitumen.

Happy it did make more damage than that.

ah in a maxwell smart voice the old park the bike on hot bitumem trick , glad the damage was minimal  [thumbsup]

dragonworld.

Glad to hear the bike/s came away relatively unscathed!  [thumbsup]

My VTRthou got flipped upside down after the sidestand sunk into the bitumen on a hot day (Car park asphalt is generally soft low grade shit  :o )

The side stand sunk in far enough to flip the bike over onto its head!

Busted screen, LH Faring,  squashed section on the tank, Clutch lever, bent handlebar, indicator, footpeg, gouged ducktail and muffler.  [evil] [roll] >:(

Nice and expensive for a stationary "minor" incident??

Moral........Always use yer stand pucks! I learnt the hard way!  [bang] :(

The Monster gods were looking after us for sure Rob [bow_down],
could of been really ugly with a lever through my tank and a domino car park side show.
Glad you only got some minor damage.
Im puck shopping for summer,or maybe just a squashed Redbull can under the seat.

Jukie

i glad your bikes were ok. yes it could have been worst, but very glad it wasn't. It's a nice reminder too, watch out for the road conditions.

Dez, glad yours is ok too. Let me know when you go puck shopping. It is definately on my list of goodies to buy. Are all these pucks the same or is there a preferred brand? I guess something is better than nothing if these last few weeks are an indication of how hot this summer will get. :o

dragonworld.

I've got a "proper" sidestand puck I got from MonsterParts when I bought some bits off him, but I also have a piece of scrap ally about 3mm thick by 200mm by 100mm with the corners rounded off that slips nicely into the breast pocket on the jacket. [thumbsup]

Has saved the bike on wet ground as well as the hot black stuff!!  ;D

What would be easier to pluck back out of the molten asphalt? The "proper puck" or the beautifully fabricated piece that you made? I guess the benefit of your fabricated one is it's stream lined proportions. How bulky are the other ones? I am sorry about all the questions. I am a Puck virgin.

dragonworld.

Here's a cheapie from Fleabay!!

The bought plastic one is a little more bulky but would still fit in one of the larger pockets in a jacket, but it doesnt do the job any better than the ally one. ;D
