Anybody run these?  If so, thoughts about them?  I am looking at getting some nicer gloves (currently use Astars SP-2) and was thinking of giving these a try.  Other considerations are Astars GP-Pro as well, simply because they look as if they might offer a bit more protection...

check out youtube and sportbiketrackgear's page, he has reviews on almost every glove imaginable.

I wore the full metal racers for a couple of days at a track school. Fit and finish were excellent, and protection seemed plenty adequate, although they are a very sleek glov compared to Astars and other track gloves. They were very comfortable; I pretty much forgot I had gloves on. I've been planning on getting a pair. I currently use astars gp tech and gp pro sometimes, an they're both very nice, but not as comfy as the dainese.

Thanks SD.  Would you say the Dainese's seemed to offer as much protection as the Astars?

Well, they certainly don't look as robust as the astars (smaller knuckle protector), but given the construction quality and the fact that they are, in fact, race replica gloves, I'd guess that they are crash-worthy. Put it this way: I plan on getting a pair, and my hands are my livelihood. I don't know anyone who's crashed a pair. Spidey? Paging Spidey?  ;D

I wear Helds pretty much exclusively at this point (other than for winter gloves), so no FHE.    That said, if you send me a pair to test, I'm pretty sure I can put 'em on the asphalt for ya.   ;D

I wouldn't put too much emphasis on how crashworthy the gloves look (e.g. how big the armor is or how beef they appear).  Plently of the high end gloves have less outward bling than others, but still provide great crash protection.  I rock Held Kryptons, which replace a lot of the hard armor in other gloves with soft armor, and don't look at beefy as a result.  But they crash really well.   ;D

There are quite a few glove reviews out there online and in print.  I think the general consensus is the FMR is one of the, if not thee, best glove on the market.  I won't try to concince you either way regarding the A*'s VS. Dainese.  I'll let other reviewers do that for me.  [thumbsup]

As for pricing, let me know what color and size you are looking for as I have the 2009 Full Metal Racers on clearance right now, and we have also just recieved the 2010 FMR Pro.

Dan, thanks for the info.  I would be interested in a set of large full metal racers in black.  Can you shoot me a PM with an idea of what they would cost, shipped to 96819?  Thanks.

Spidey, the Held Phantoms are the other glove that has gotten my attention in the last couple of days.  Do you have any experience with them?  And let's just say that you could get your hands in a pair or either the FMR or the Phantoms for right about the same price, think you would go with the Helds?

Spidey

I would, but that's just me personally.  I don't know anything about the Dainese specifically.  After trying a bunch of different gloves, the Helds just fit my hand the best.  The pre-curve on the Krypton and Phantom are just perfect--better than any gloves I've seen.  Every other glove I've found bunches up, even if only a tiny little bit.  The Krypton and Phantom are just a perfect fit (for me), hae a really good feel on the throttle and don't feel too bulky (as heavily armored gloves often do).  And they crash really well.  They'll often hold up for a coupla crashes or more, which is what I expect for a $200+ glove.  But really, it's about fit, comfort and feel.

Dainese gloves just don't fit my hands as well as Helds.  Every time I try a pair of Dainese on, they're nice, but don't fit well enough or feel good enough on my hands to justify the price.

I think of gloves a lot like helmets.  You just have to find a brand or a specific gloves that fits and that you like.  For me, that's Helds.  For you?  Try some and see.

Not likely to happen living down here in Hawaii.  We are lucky if any of the shops down here have anything more substantial than mesh motocross gloves in stock.

Anyhow, just ordered the Phantoms due to being offered a really good price on them.  We shall see how they fit when they get here.

That's too bad.  I guess I take for granted the selection we have around here.  I've gone into the Dainese store a coupla times to try on gloves (DaineseDan is great!) and they just don't fit my hands right.  I'm glad I figured that out before ordering a pair.

Excellent point, I wear a 3XL and am limited to certain brands. Daineses are too small, A*s have been so-so in fit and quality for me. but I have found Spidi to be perfect in fit and quality for me, so much so that I can order them on line with confidence and have always had perfect fit.

DRKWNG, I'm wearing Spidi race vent long and short versions currently and they did well on the sportbike trackgear shootout, check them out.
