Ha, no, but its not tool steel either - another MIM part. I understand the cost efficiency of casting, but for the love of god, don't put the words "Custom Shop" on the side then.

enough of that anti-kimber rant, because the gun functions fantastically right now and is very accurate. I'm looking to try out one of these small STI 9mm 1911's in the near future, with the revolver-like permanent sights to see how it does. And its made nearish to Dallas (though Nighthawk and Wilson aren't that far away in Arkansas I suppose. All much closer than the Northeast manufacturers)

i've mentioned it before here, but I have a phillipino-made 1911 that I have found to be top notch.  There was a problem with the safety sear when I got it and I had smith fix it -- it was dropping the hammer to half cock if the safety was engaged  >:( he just filed a few parts and swapped the safety lever.

beyond that, the gun is flawless.  it has a polished parkerized finish, which is rare.  it is very smooth overall. and easily shoots 1-2" groups with good ammo.  After running about 40 boxes at the range, the slide shows almost no wear, extractor, pin hole and face all are remarkably smooth.  i expected the metal to be softish but it seems like it is hard as hell.

I almost didn't buy it at first but it was $250 (this was in 2001 or 02).  I figured I could dump it for the same price.  I wouldn't sell it for 3 times that now.

PAC in Cali (aka "The Dealer's Warehouse")  imported them, and they are marked "SAM, RP" (republic phillipines).  If yuou see one, just buy it.  They are friggin awesome.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Ok, here is the Saiga 12gauge with my current round of mods:

1. Telescoping M4 style stock (easy to remove stock, took some drilling to install current)
2. Replaced forend with an aftermarket piece that has 3 sides of picany rails (as you can see I used the underside one for a handle, which I had on hand)
3. Quick detach mount with picany rails for a scope. I put a Tasco red dot on it, well, just because I wanted to.
4. I bought a remington sling for 9$ at walmart which seems great. Just need to mod out a piece on the pack so it clips on. A key chain "holder" seems to be the ticket.

Enjoy my ultimate home defense weapon. If I need more than 10 semi auto 00 buck shots, I should have grabbed my AR-15.

Time to convert that gun, here are some before and afters of my saiga 12 conversion, I still need to do something about the for end.

I'm thinking about letting my S&W 15T go in order to get a SR-15 once my dealer gets them in.

Just don't see the reason to dump the money into it to shorten the length by 3"

It would allow you to use regular ol' AK stocks and grips and the like, iirc, beyond the length shortening.

The trigger feel is greatly improved, the link bar for the saiga trigger adds alot of slop.

I think I pulled off the gun deal of the year this evening.

Went to my local bar and met up with some friends and of course conversation turned to guns.

A friend of mine said he was at a Ducks Unlimited banquet last year and won in some raffle an "italian black shotgun pump that begins with a "b" that I have never fired before"

He wanted 200$ for it.

I figured it was a Benelli Nova. Well, I was right.

It is a magnum too, shoots up to a 3 1/2in shell.

Of course it is sitting on my kitchen table now.

I'd post pictures but it is nothing special other than what you can buy at a gun shop except for the engraved "ducks unlimited" on the ejection point or whatever the make the beast with two backs you call that piece of the gun.

Not sure what I am going to do with this bad boy. My brother wants to buy it from me. However, I do not have a straight shot gun for what typical use is for.

My 870 is a home defense gun. Of course my Saiga 12.......not really a shot gun.

This is my first and only shot gun that could be used for any sort of hunting. I think I will keep it.

But make the beast with two backs...........shooting a 3 1/2 through it???

that might have some kick on my awful left shoulder.

Sweet! I am sure you will figure out what to do with it. [thumbsup] 3 1/2s will kick your ass. But I am sure you already know this. Geese be aware!! [laugh]

This is my first dedicated hunting shotgun. I definitely know what to do with it  [thumbsup]

I couldn't pass on the price. My brother already offered me more then I paid for it but can't sell it.

Sweet!  I almost won that exact gun at the DU national auction last year.  I've never fired one, but they are supposed to be great guns.  Too bad it is not the Vinci as it has a recoil reduction device in the stock (some sort of cylinder with mercury in it).  You can retrofit one into the Nova.  They can also be dressed tactical.
996 forks, BoomTubes, frame sliders, CRG bar-end mirrors, vizitech integrated tail light, rizoma front turn signals, rizoma grips, cycle cat multistrada clip ons, pantah belt covers - more to come

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary. H. L. Mencken

I have the same gun. A Benelli Nova pump12, the long frickin barrel. The pump is a little rattly, but its a great gun, simple take down, easy to clean.

I got mine used at a gun show, it looked like it had been sitting in mud (the internals). A thorough cleaning and it functions flawlessly (and now smells nice).

The 3 1/2" is a bit of a doozy and might necessitate some sort of recoil reducer or phone book under the shirt if you don't know its coming. Its really not all that bad unless you are dumb enough to launch one out of a pistol grip / no stock shotty.

Dude, I agree.

That barrel is make the beast with two backsing long!!!!

the pump definitely is a little rattly, but before buying it, I talked to Tizzy and he said it is a great piece.

I haven't broken it down yet, but looks very easy to do. I might get around later today, but need to find a table long enough to set it on.  [laugh] [laugh] [laugh] [laugh]
