Cutter had a non-silver car, and they were willing to meet a price that Tony wasn't, namely MSRP.  Amazing how anywhere else MSRP is overpriced, and here it's a low price goal.  Either way, I can't wait to get rid of the Cutter license plate frames.

Yea, that is something that I noticed when I was car shopping not long ago.  No one was interested in going below MSRP unless you were looking for something very large and gashoggyish.  But then I started talking to dealers on the mainland, and going through USAA's car buying service.  I now have multiple dealerships advertising offers that are a couple grand below MSRP.

So anyhow, what about that towing capacity?  ;)

eltristo

Yeah, I contacted a dealer in Oakland, and it seemed like we could get a touch below MSRP on the TDI, but not much due to demand.  A touch below MSRP + shipping = more than I paid, so, good enough.

And I can't find any info on towing capacity yet.  I'll have to check the book.

what are you going to tow? the beetle?

No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.

if you are a AAA member, they have a deal to get $500 over invoice plus some other protections..  they find the car for you...

love the TDI tho.  I have an 05 Golf and would love to get a new one.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Wonder if AAA has that same deal down here. Hawaii dealers as a whole rarely participate in any sort of discount program.

I've used the Costco deal on island before, and it was essentially a free pass to MSRP.  The magic letters return.  I was not aware of the AAA possibility, but I'm a little late on that one.
