Well, I made a trip to frasers today and test rode some bikes....

848: Was a little worried that it didn't have a dry clutch. Still felt amazing, although doing 100clicks in second gear without any real feeling of an angry duc engine kind of turned me off it. Think it is by far the best looking bike i've seen, but it just doesn't crackle and hiss like a DS engine.

Monster1100: Loved the engine, although i'm still not sold on the looks. Prefer the old image. My favourite bike of the day.

Hyper: Once again, loved the engine, not the looks though. Sit up to high, doesn't feel like i was connected to the road.

what worried you about the clutch? - from my (limited) understanding the clutch is a slipper type unit and should be a good unit under engine braking.  Or doesn't have the feel or the sound (my favourite part) of a dry clutch - part of the reason I bought my Monster.  [thumbsup]

848 are aesthetically pleasing, but I did wonder if they lacked the 'power band' feeling you got from a 748/749.  ;D

yes i guess we all spend time thinking about what other great bikes are out there ....probably no perfect bike ....yet ....but for me since xmas the monster and i have  done some touring ...2000k in 4 days doen thru the NSW and Vic Alpine region  :). :).............a bit of track fun at EC.. :o.....and probably a dozen or so rides up and around the old hiway...gosford .Hunter Valley..etc. [moto].......put that together with the looks ...sound ...and character of the monster .....and i cant think of another bike that could do it all so well...............any way ...hope u find the s2r..............regards

Spider

perfect bike in a world without without speed limits: 848s (ohlins both end, dry clutch, forged wheels)

best bike in Melbourne lately: the pushie!

Mr.S2R

typical dealer overpricing on the S2R.

the SC does look good, has some goodies on it too!  [thumbsup]

but surely a Monster is your first love?  ??? ;D ;D

Spider

ring em up and offer them $10,500 for it...go up to $11,000

18000 a bit rude for basically a stock monster. I do like the low km's though.....

rude? I looked in the picture to see if it came with a bonus s2r800 as backup  ;D

White Lion

Haha, just sent them a message offering 14500 cash... Worth a try.

On another note, what about the s4rs? I know that thing has some balls.....

Anyone have a sports classic here? Interested to know how they ride.......................

Front steps out a bit, lots of head shake.
Reports of some going into uncontrollable tank slappers on straight roads (all from the usa).
Stock wheels are heavy and flex a bit. Stock tyres are like licorice [laugh]

Mine has improved a 1000% with a steering damper.
Still can be improved, I've got 10 spoke marchesinis/PP's (waiting for rear bearings and spacer, grrrrrrrr >:(), Showa/S4R forks, 996r brembos.

The SC1000 is a basically a naked SS with downgraded components.
You'll have to spend some $$$ to upgrade those bits.
The Paul Smart has ohlins [thumbsup]

Sounds ordinary but I like it a lot.

Asking price for both those bikes is way to much.
The SC's didn't sell well, I got a 2006 new in 2009 for $16900 ride away.
Used ones usually don't sell quickly, priced way to high.

Agree with spider..........opening offer for either bike should be $10,500.

Note chicken strips........that's as far as i'll trust the stock setup.
