We got notice at work that SR 14 will be closed regularly throughout the summer for rockfall mitigation (blasting and scaling).

If you were planning a ride out the Gorge on SR14, do it before June 15th.  NOTE: This does NOT affect Cougar Run rides, as the turnoff for Carson and the Wind River Hwy is a few miles before Dog Mountain.

March 1st -- June 14th, SR 14 will be closed between Dog Mountain (Milepost 54) and White Salmon from 4pm-6pm on weekdays. (They're doing blasting on some of the cliff faces)

June 15th -- Sept 2nd, SR 14 will be closed along the same stretch starting at 7am, with 2-hour closures and 1-hour openings until 6pm, 7 days a week. (This is when they'll be doing scaling... where some poor dude gets to go up the cliff face in a lift, or hang down on a harness, and knock loose any rocks that look like a risk)

Oh, just saw some other SR 14 project notices, and these will affect Cougar Run rides, though these are not closures.

Yeppers.  I just wanted to make sure you guys were aware of these road construction projects so you could avoid them if/when riding out the Gorge this spring and summer.  [thumbsup]  Happy motoring!  [moto]
