I tivo'd all the Daytona bike week races and just finished up the last one; not a bad showing for Ducati.  Thought Pegram looked like he was having fun in the former Mladin-Class races... Just weren't enough Suzukis in there for my tastes though [bang]  [bang]  [bang]

Also, can someone please explain to me how what looks to be a Buell 1125R is eligible to compete in the Super Sport (600cc?) class?  (I won't even ask about the 848  :-\ ).

RED

The Buell 'exemption' last year was a one-off deal just for the homoligation for the 1125. DMG knew it couldn't compete with the zukiamaondawakis so they gave them the supersport? class. Correct me if I'm wrong on this Fastwin. AMA 'bent' the rules to allow them to race basically because I think everyone knew Big Buell was going down and wanted an American bike to win a class.

Money or not, I enjoyed the racing; "Good" coverage and commentary.  Are Nicky Hayden and Scott Russell from the same part of the country?  Their accents are very similar... Outrageous, but similar  [laugh]

Supersport is now for the up and coming youngsters and all the bikes are limited to inline 600cc fours. There is an age limit on Supersport. It's the AMA/DMG dumb version of the Red Bull 125cc GP rookie class. It's not the "old" Supersport class as we knew it.

The internet talk about Buell being in Daytona Sportbike class could reach to the sun and beyond! The best way to explain it all is to refer folks to the Cycle World interview of Eric.

As many Haydens as there are racing or mentioned in a typical race broadcast, you could have told me they were from Haydensboro, Kentucky and I would have believed you  [laugh]  Yeah... I should probably start listening to the commentary.

Agreed, great articles. I just hope Eric comes back better and stronger soon. [thumbsup]
