Any long term issues you think? Cause it is loud as hell but I want to avoid wearing ear plugs

Grampa

Gaspar, Melchior and Balthasar kicked me out of the band..... they said I didnt fit the image they were trying to project.

So I went solo.  -Me

1) wind noise is probably a bigger enemy
2) the pipes are probably loud enough to cause damage either way
3) hearing damage is gradual, cumulative, and irreversible
4) if you ride a moto without earplugs you WILL go deaf
5) prior to going deaf you'll hear such a nasty, constant ringing you'll almost hope to go deaf faster
6) it all sucks
7) wear the make the beast with two backsing plugs-always.

I rode a S4Rs w. Termis - silencers plus open air box and it was DAMN loud.

My 1098-R has Full Race Termi System w, no silencers.

I didn't wear ear plugs for about a month but finally found a pair I like and have worn them ever since after I got the S4Rs.

Dave is so right , the sound of the wind above 35mph will ruin your hearing . Wear ear plugs if you don't want to be driven crazy by the insects !

Right now I can turn off all sound producing things and it sounds like a million insects in my ears.

40 some years of riding without ear plugs......plus a lot of Rock concerts back in the day and played in a Rock band.

Not so much. Just get some of the foam ones, and you're good to go.

What?  I can't hear what you guys are saying.

Once you get used to riding with ear plugs you will never want to ride without them.

You guys are wearing full-face helmet, flip, bowls ??  The sound of the wind ?  We don't have the same helmet ...

Yeah, wind noise is louder at speed than my exhaust (07 S4RS with full Termi kit; no db killers).  Of course the exhaust IS lounder, but you have to be behind the cans to get the full effect.  On the bike, wind noise is louder.

I wear full coverage helmet AND ear plugs.  Wear ear plugs.  Even in a full coverage helmet the wind noise is louder than you might think.

I too have a bad case of tinnitis (tinitis?).  The horrible constant buzzing/ringing in the ears.  I'm half deaf.

Of course, riding without a helmet is even worse for hearing loss.  The wind noise over the ears is tremendous; ears aren't that aerodynamically slick.  IMO, hearing loss is the greatest argument against going without a full coverage helmet.

Spend a few bucks and get some good reusable ear plugs with the highest db rating you can find.

Ear plugs are cheap...I think its worth 2 bucks for a lifetime of hearing.  I'm trying to get my bro to wear them but he never listens, perhaps he's already half deaf?

use the foam earplugs or get custom ones made for you.

its up to you what you want.  i have a set of custom ones and really don't like riding wihtout them anymore.

they take a few days to get used to if you have never ridden with them but after a couple of weeks you won't be able to ride without them again.

the wind noise is a constant drone that will destry your hearing over time.

remember, your hearing once damaged will NEVER heal and get better it will only get Worse.

Prevent it from getting any worse or at the very least slow the progression of damage so that it takes decades rather than a couple of years to lose your hearing.

They are all probably wearing good full face helmets. You have wind noise too... you just might not realize what it is. Yes, some helmets are better than others, but there is no way to not have a constant level of wind noise while riding. If you're not wearing plugs, start and you'll notice a difference.

Besides the hearing damage factor of not wearing plugs - you will fatigue faster

Some of the foam earplugs come in different sizes.  I found the slim or junior version to fit me best....better than customs!
