Could you imagine Laguna Seca at night. The top of the cork screw would look like you were about to ride off into the dark abyss.

I just watched the race again as well.  Laguna would be very cool at night.  I don't imagine it would pose any visibility difficulties to the riders, but maybe knowing California weather the asphalt might be colder and slightly less gripping?  Just my theory, what do I know, I'm only a Doctor!

Laguna would be too damp at night.  No bueno.

Do you find most roads get too damp at night up in your neck of the woods?  Or just too damp for racing?

Man, 10 pages of discussion on the first race - safe to say we were past due for some moto racing!

Just of note, apparently Rossi's team is saying the gearing they chose for the race was the reason he was dead last on the charts, not because of any mechanical problems.

i read that they had geared his bike to take advantage of casey's draft, but never saw that they were using that to "excuse" his position on the speed charts.

if you look here, rossi and spies are in the bottom half of the top speeds and jorge is dead center:

fwiw, there's more than one way to get around a track and top speed down the front straight isn't necessarily indicative of anything other than having a really, really fast bike.
