so i found a dealer that could get me a black 07 S4RS still in the crate
I gave my CC left a deposite.  Today when i called to ask for the MSO so i could fax it to the boarder, he had bad news.  The sales rep would not allow him to sell me the bike because i am in Canada  :-[
Total BS.  The bike in the US is over $2500 less that what i would pay at the local dealers.  Acutally about 4k less, but i talked them down $1500.
If Ducati knows there is such a price difference then they should fix the f'n Canadian price [bang]
The dealer is not happy either, it;s money out of his hands.
What the hell happened to a free market.

Hey Ducati, that Aprilla looks mighty good right about now  [wine]

That suck ballage dude.... I don't really know how they could stop you if you wanted to purchase one? Doesn't make sense to me, are they doing the financing? If so could you get it financed elsewhere then just walk in and give them the cash? It doesn't seem they'd be able to refuse a cash settlement purchase. I would imagine it has to do with the financial side, I would caution you that some of the pricing difference you're seeing could actually be a taxation issue and it could be you'll have to pay these cost anyway. Good luck.

Ducatis made for the Canadian market may have different emission requirements. You might find the same thing is true if you tried to buy a car in the US and were in Canada. The Tax issue does sound like it could be an obstacle between 2 countries.

Keep checking the Canadian dealers I got an 07 S2R800 brand new for $3000.00 off.  As for the emmisions most provinces have thier emmisions standards written so they follow closely with Califorina.  Check NAFTA and see if that is the restriciton, it is partially with cars at least.
Ducati ..... Ducati ..... Ducati ..... It just makes me smile!

Harley drivers in short/t-shirts/and salad bowls .... make me laugh.

local dealer is $15500 plus %13 tax (origonally wanted friggen 17 !!)
US bikes is $13500 plus %13 tax (payable at the boarder)

The only reason they won't sell it to me is to protect the Canadian dealers.  It;s not the buffalo dealer, it;s Ducati NA that is saying no  [bang]

suck a kick in the friggen teeth.  I just called the delaer back too see if he heard anythig, and nothing yet  :-\

Walk in with cash, tell the dealler that if they don't sell you the bike Ducati can go fack themselves, there are other brands. Canada's dealers need to protect themselves. Or get a trusted friend to pay for it and buy it from them, then thumb your nose at the Canuck dealers for being a whiny little no compete babydiaperbuttface! Tell them how you got your brand new Ducati in the states at a great discount and make them cry like girls.

The US dealers are under strict orders from DNA not to sell new bikes outside of the US.  Michael Lock negotiated special pricing for the US due to the high volume of bikes they sell here.

Do it through a friend in the states then..... they can't stop a private party from selling it to you.

Unfortunately, "free trade" is a two-way street. Ducati can choose to sell to, and NOT sell to, whomever they please. They probably have to order the bike... Bologna wanted credentials, saw you were Canadian, and said "sorry buddy, but you have to pay more than americans because, well, we can make you..." Capitalism rules...

I can't believe no-one has mentioned the real reason why Ducati screws with Canadian buyers - VS   [laugh]

Another thing to be aware of - on the goldwing board, several Canadian members have bought goldwings in the states and taken them north.  There have been many reports of Canadian dealers refusing to work on bikes purchased out of the country.  I don't know how they can do that, what if I was a US resident, owned the bike in the US, and then took a job in Canada?

If you live close to the border, just ride across for warranty service.  Most goldwing owners do a lot of their own maintenance anyway so they don't really care.  A lot of Canadian goldwing people refuse to buy from Honda-Canada because of the "Canadian Tax".  The dollars are almost the same in value now so the price difference is really nothing more than gouging.

I was talking to a friend who lives in Denmark . I told him I had a 1098R and he said he would have liked to get one but in Denmark, Ducati sold the 1098R for the eqivalent of $55,000 US and here in the US they sold for $39,995. The US gets Ducatis cheaper than any other country. Lucky us !
