Now I did try to search for info regarding bike insurance - but as we're all new, there are no older topics, so....

Any suggestions for bike insurance?  Have checked out insuremyride.com, and a few of the other majors - any others you can think of?  ???

I know this topic has been covered before on the other site, but i'm not going back - even if I could!  >:(

Cheers

I looked into it heaps, I found premiums varied but the inclusions got me! I found QBE to be competative and offer best valuation... Agreed value was the full purchase $ of the bike and therefore the best.  Excess was lowest for me. ebike was cheapest by a long way when I got my original quote but only valid for 2 weeks and price went up to similar to the others when i went to obtain the insurance as the quote expired... Lesson learned.... If you get a very good quote don't sit on it as the price can quickly change.

Another recommendation for WQBE here - I've been using them since '99, they've always been cheapest or within a few percent of cheapest every renewal time, and they dealt well with both claims I've made.

Have always been with WQBE but I have no claim history to draw on.

This does however bring up another point - would we be entitled to a 'club discount' through the DMF? I know it was discussed a couple of times 'somewhere else'.

Yep WQBE best value and most options.
My last renewal I spoke to them on the phone and managed to save another $80 on the quoted premium.
Just because I was asked a couple of questions about how much I ride etc....
Also got the D.O.C. NSW discount.

More than a year now.
Did my renewal a little while back for the 2 or 3 yrs.
Still trying to get out on one of the rides with them.

WQBE here as well. As I have lots of bling I was able to send them copies of receipts and have my "agreed value" increased for a very small fee. Last lot of bling didn't cost anything....  wt:

Got My D.O.C. (different to DOCNSW) with the Monster. Included Ducati Road Side assistance for 2 years (which I have used and the services was very very good).  8)

You know that Big Al is the ride coordinator ???
Just make a suggestion that may suit you and he will arrange a club   wt:

Got my club discount with the NDDOC. Thought others might be interested.

But that Ducati assist seems to be more of a sales thing than anything. When I got my baby I was told they were going to extend it to older models and you could renew after the 2 years. But after 2 years they didn't want to know me (which is fair enough, I get that a lot) or the Boss (which is less believable).

That's another good point I forgot to make about WQBE, when you phone their motorcycle insurance number, you get to talk to interested and capable motorcycle riding people. They gave me quite a bit of good help and advice when I was sorting out my last claim where I ended up without the other guys details - they talked me through how to get the police to direct me to the right police station, what to ask the attending officer to do and send me, and generally help me through the process of claiming.

I don't know that the other insurance companies _don't_ do this, but I do know I was very greatful for the assistance I got from WQBE when I needed it. (I don't know if they'd be quite so helpful in an at-fault claim where they were going to end up paying out, but they went to great lengths to help me identify the at-fault driver and his details/insurance company...)

I got a quote from Shannons just recently, and to insure both bike and car (Ford Fairmont Ghia) Its about $1100 per year which I thought was pretty good but I will give WQBE a call to see if they can beat this.

This won't hurt much.... Trust me......
