Apparently Dorna wasn't releasing this as they considered it "too violent", but as often happens it eventually leaked.

I'm still amazed he wasn't injured and wanted to race afterwards. Even though the docs found nothing wrong, they still wouldn't let him.
I own several motorcycles. I have owned lots of motorcycles. And have bolted and/or modified lots of crap to said motorcycles...

As bad as it was it certainly wasn't much worse than other broadcast accidents from MotoGP races that I have seen. Look at the wrecks they show on TV from NASCAR races! Jeez, I don't watch NASCAR very much but they put vids of the really bad wrecks in their advertisments for Christ sake! Guess they are trying to attract "special" viewers. :P

Just glad he wasn't hurt and wanted to get back on it and race! [thumbsup]

wow - his head bent in all sorts of bad angles.

That crash explains why lots of the newer tracks have gone to asphalt run off.

The highside probably hurt enough on its own never mind the tumble through the gravel.

yeah he would have gotten up and walked off it the gravel hadn't had flipped him like that.
they need to come up with a material that slows them but doesn't flip them. kind like some sort of gelatanous substance....

the asphalt runoffs are mostly for the benefit of the cars....

that's the biggest problem with mixed use tracks... cars and bikes have different needs for runoff.

I wasn't aware of that but it seems, from the bike crashes/off track excursions I've seen, they benefit the bikes also.

Holy crap!! I'm amazed he wasn't injured. Tumbling like that could very well have caught his head the wrong way and snapped his neck.

The automotive oriented stuff was just getting started at that time:

I'm not aware of any roadracer using one.

IIRC, the airbag vests that Lorenzo wears do have some neck support.
