So I found out today I'm supposed to do a 4wd course for work in Braidwood for three days next week.

Yipee, thinks I, a lovely ride down the coast, then three days playing with ridiculous vehicles, then another lovely ride home.  [moto]

Then I find we're supposed to pick up the vehicles here in Sydney and the boring drive down there on the Hume "counts as part of the course".

Don't despair Suzy. There are probably some people that can point you away from the Hume ... to really make it 'count as part of the course'.

Just a thought.

Bummer.  Kings Hwy from Batemans Bay to Braidwood is a good ride.  :(

How can driving a 4wd on the ho-hum Hume be classed as training unless the traffic/trucks are counted as obstacles and spotting  [leo] before they spot you is honing your observation skills.  [laugh]

In a 4WD? Take Turpentine Rd from Nowra to Braidwood instead (while it's still got 40km of dirt in the middle...)

FIFO

And we are getting paid to do this [roll]

Now go and was your mouth out with soap [puke]
Nothing ridiculous about a 4wd at all. >:(
I'm sure Kaz and Nickati will have something to say about this as well!

3 days paid holiday flogging someone else's 4wd around the bush [popcorn]  [popcorn][popcorn]

I will swap places.

'when in doubt apply throttle' - it may not save you, but it will end the suspense

Only problem is there are three people in each vehicle, and we've already been given the route we're supposed to drive (down the Hume to Goulburn, then turn left).

It's not like I haven't driven 4wds long distances - I delivered one (with a workmate) to our site in WA 18 months ago.  Driving across the Nullarbour in a 70 series ute with vinyl seats and no cruise control in the middle of Summer is something I'm glad I did, but not something that I care to repeat any time soon.

I'm thinking along the lines of a "did I mention the wedding in Canberra that I have to go to on the weekend" angle, so I can give a workmate my kit and then ride down on my bike anyway :)

What do you need three in a vehicle for anyway?

On second thoughts, maybe I don't want to know.

Yeah.  I must confess the prospect of a threesome with two of my workmates doesn't exactly blow my hair back.
