i received my radial calipers today.

4 piston radial monoblocks w/ good pads and lines. i going to get custom SS lines when finished, but for $62, i'm not complaining.

on the wheel spacing, the wheel has to come over about 10mm's. so i'm going to get the shoulder on the sleeve nut machined down.

today my other stuff came in. 999 masters and SS swingarm. that's going to be in another thread. ;D

just a few more things and the front end will be complete.

i got everything semi installed. fitment has very tight spacing. between the caliper and the spokes of the rim, there's only about a 1-2mm clearance. it seems a little close for comfort for me.

what do you guys think?

corey

way too clsoe for comfort IMO. can you grind off some of the calipers and refinish with some caliper paint??

way to close. im pretty sure as you ride everything wll flex and something is going to give.

im not sure how much grinding you can do without compromising it since i dont know the thickness of them... maybe you should look into other calipers with similar spacing.

The Don

would it not be easier and safer to buy a R6 rim? probably a whole lot lighter as well.

Don that's what i've been thinking, but they have different rotor size and mounting cause the rim is my problem. everything would be good if the spokes weren't so fat. i saw on a monster before that somebody used cbr 600 rims, front and back. they look very nice, they look similar to the OZ rims.

the caliper wall thickness is about 4.3mm thick, not exact measurement, so not a lot of room to work with there. i'm not sure how much spacing i would need to be safe.

But all the work you did for the spacers would of been for nothing. lol

i guess future lesson is to buy everything and then start machining parts

not all of it was a waste. i can try to use a ducati 25mm axle, and not have wasted any money on machining. on the side where he adapted the axle to 28mm, he shrank the sleeve spacer on the axle not welded.

Why wouldn`t R6 wheel, axle & discs work?

well i was trying to keep the 320mm rotors, but seems kinda dumb now for and extra 10mm's. i think the r6 stock fork width is wider than a monster, i'm worried about the spacing of everything. something else that i'm in the dark about unless to buy it.

Düb Lüv

this is what i'm working with. causing a very big headache.

the spacing between the calipers is exactly 35mm. the center line width of the calipers is 119mm. after doing some searching i THICK the r6 rotors have a 0mm offset, so thery're flat, but i still don't know the width of the rotor spacing on the wheel.

Quotei THICK the r6 rotors have a 0mm offset, so thery're flat,

Yes, they are.
Don`t remember offset but almost flat.

hey greenmonster, so you have the front wheel and rotors too? if so, when you have a free minute, could you measure the rotor to rotor width for me.

Just a thought - is the distance between fork legs the same on an R6 as on a monster?

'cos if the R6 triple is wider, then the R6 wheel may still not fit.
