I rode down near Hico today to check out a road (FM 1238) we heard about on the last Hico run. If you haven't done it yet, get off your ass and go do it. You'll thank me later.

I've got a short list of local "destination" roads that are worth travelling to and 1238 just hit the top of that list. This definitely needs to be added to the Hico run.

Here's the map for 1238 and a few other that are tops on my list.

FM 1238 between Cranfills Gap & Iredell
FM 373 heading north out of Muenster
FM 697 from Sherman to Whitewright


Anyone else have any favorites?

697?  is that the one right off of 82?

Farm to Market Road 898 leaving from Whitewright taking it all the way to Ector.  This is north of dallas near Bonham.

Also in the same area is Farm to Market Road 697 from just north of Whitewright to Sherman.

A lot of us have ridden both of these before as they used to be part of the Swanny route.

Yeah, I've done 697 (see o.p.), sometimes multiple times back and forth  [moto]. I'll have to continue on through 898 next time. Thanks for the tip. 

916 between maypearl and 171. tight 40 mph lefts and rights one after the other.
219 between whitney and hico (or 1238). very fast and some very long sweepers.

I'll second north bound 383 out of Muenster; the scale of the windmills are spectacular every time.

I also like FM 1956 from Capp's Corner (on FM 688) west into Nocona...

Oh hell, just throw 688 north out of Saint Jo in there too
