Which would you choose...Kreiga R25 with R10 or R30

As you have probably read (Kriega Collection thread) I am still torn between the R25 and R30.  I still can't find any reviews or videos on the R30.   I like the outer pockets on the R30 but I am unsure about the wear and tear on the main compartment with the folding top.  I have never ridden in the rain and check the weather everyday so that I do not have to worry about rain, therefore, waterproof is not required for me.  For my commute, I would possibly need my jacket and pants liner (warm when I ride into work, colder when I get off), duty radio and compact handgun in a holster, as well as my lunch.  Once in a while I need to bring home a binder with instructor materials.

Based on the above, would you choose the R30 over the R25, or would you go with the R25 and an R10 to use on the back or tailbag when needed?  Seems like the R30 would be a better fit, the R25 with the R10 mounted seems a little bulky.  I know both can be compressed when not full.  Thanks for any advice.  I would have to order online and it is hard to make a decision without seeing the bags in person.

I've seen only the 25 and it is kind of small, but it's big enough for what you describe except maybe the binder.
The 30 will bring a small amount of hassle, opening and closing the top. It's a long way down to it's bottom and it will be dark.
I think the 35 is a good choice - it has all the features.
They're all waterproof enough for your use [thumbsup]

Personally id go R30, theres more times then i can count where i got caught in the rain with a laptop. id pull over with a garabge bag and triple wrap my self. it sucks.

You can defintely fit all you stated in the R25. and possibly more if you know how to pack shit in.

So really you can go either way, the R30 is a significantly more expensive. but its waterproofing is what puts the nail in the coffin for me. the guy said you can spray it down with a hose. so YEAAA!!!  [thumbsup]

hey if you buy the R30 and dont like it i have a R25 id trade you + cash.  [evil]

My choice was R25 + US5, and I'm more than satisfied, but the R30 was not available in Europe at that time..

Difficult decision now, full waterproof is worth the 50 USD for You?
The R25 is waterproof enough for me cause I'm also a rain avoider. :)

I use my R20 with US10 attached for commuting.

I carry:
13" MacBook Pro inside Axio hardcase
assorted manuscripts and paperwork (about 50-75 pages)
computer peripherals, etc. (external hard drive, video adapter, ac adapter, laser pointer)
2 pair prescription glasses
running shoes (size 11)
iPod nano

...and that's an R20.

Sorry, crappy cell phone pic, but here's tonight's load (R20/US10 on the left):

Go R25.

I use it and a US 10 as a tail bag. It will retro fit to the pack.

The 35 is too tall (up the back)

You can load the shit out of the R25.

I managed to ride to the gym w/ all my gym gear and still managed to bring home carry-out for dinner for three. That R-25 pack is magical.

I ended up getting the R30 but haven't had a chance to ride with it.  It is very roomy and the outer pockets can hold quite a bit too.  Compression is nice too when you don't need all the space.  I am wondering if I will get annoyed with the rucksack opening over time.  3 buckles to lock/unlock and rolling it every time may get old.  I also grabbed a cube pocket for the front too.

Once you get some more time to explore the pack, please add your thoughts to that collection thread.

Sort of reviving the dead here but, I'd rather post here than start a new thread.

I have heard that the r25 can hold a helmet, shoei RF-1100 small in my case, Is this the smallest pack from kreiga that will hold a helmet? How about the R20 in reference to holding a helmet.

I commute to work and need a pack I can hold a bike cover, helmet, shoes, and spare shirt.

I am relatively short 5' 8" and weigh about 150-160 depending on the season. But due to being so massively strong I have a ~40" chest and a 30" waist ( V baby). Any recommendations on a pack??

do you want to know if it can phsically hold a helmet? yes

advidable? no. its not made to hold a helmet. i have a helmet bag for that purpose..... that goes into the kreiga. lol

its like $20 and padded, the kreiga isnt.

I can state for a fact that the 20 will hold a Rizo rear sets box, but will not zip. So, take a bigger pack than the 20 when going to the post office to pick up your sets [laugh]
