Y'all have fun. Too early, I'm sleeping in. Smart to go early and miss the mid afternoon furnace. Ride safe. [moto]

We made it up to OK and got back before noon [thumbsup]

Details and pics later.

Yep, I think you're on to something here, TG.  If you leave early enough, you can have an enjoyable day.  Great ride.  No drama...

Unless you're a dog  :-[

Got back at 11 or so and it was already 94  :o  Whah.  Gonna go drink a gallon of tea and watch some MotoGP  [moto]

This was a really good ride thanks to leaving early and Lisa's perfect pace (for me) and area road knowledge [thumbsup]

We made it to Muenster by 8 ;D hydrated and ate a snack and talked to a dirt biker on his way to Red River.
Upon leaving town to stop for windmill pics, a little brown dog came out of nowhere and I hit and or ran over her.
I went back and the owners were right there saying it wasn't my fault as I look down at the dead looking bleeding thing :-\
Turns out the dog was probably knocked out as it began to breath and blink a bit.

Not only did we beat almost all of the heat, but we didn't drop $$ for lunch.
I vote for leaving early, beating the heat, eating at home then a nap.  At least in the Summer time 8)

Very cool pix.  I'm still trying to figure out how to get mine out of my phone onto the 'puter  [bang]  Good stuff though and a fun day.  Thanks Dan.

Not sure of the exact miles for this trip but I think it was close to 240.  5 hours with three fuel stops/Snickers breaks  [roll]

The owners of the dog were good about the whole thing; fully realized somebody could have been hurt.  There were actually two dogs loose chasing the bikes as we went by.  I never saw 'em so I think they may have run out in the street chasing me then got hit by TG who was two bike lengths behind.  Fortunately it was in town so our speed was about 30.  Could've been worse that's for sure.  But I do agree that by the time we got back on the road the dog looked like it was probably going to make it.

And how about all the cops?!  I thought Memorial Day weekend was bad  :o

Glad TG cleared the pup ok.  Just goes to show hypers are good at jumping stuff!   You had the right plan for this heat, it's just tough to drag out of bad that early on my down day  :-\
