So why do you recommend not staggering? Consistency of each round being the same?

I'll wait with everyone else for Good Word, but my assumption here would be that in an adrenaline-infused, possibly panicked situation (as most of us probably would be in, since the majority of us don't shoot at people on a regular basis) you don't need to further complicate your life by spraying all sorts of different ammunition around your home, or having to remember how many shots of x you have before you have to plan to use y.

(And this relates to absolutely nothing at all, but I just noticed we've been gifted a new smiley, for when we feel the need to drool profusely. [drool])

edit: Apparently the Good Word came before I got done typing.

Very true. I didn't include that topic in my long winded, novel length post. [bang] All the instructors I have taken courses from have said that exact same thing. During stressfire there is no way you are going to remember how many times you fired and cycled your shotgun... or any firearm. In the middle of an armed controntation there is no way you are going to know which round is chambered if you have them mixed up. How many times have you read about well trained, experienced police officers who thought they fired 3-4 times when they may have actually gone through two full magazines. If that happens to those good guys there is no damn way I'm going to keep up. :P

OK, end of giant thread jack! Back to pictures of guns!! [thumbsup]

Thanks for the great explanation  [thumbsup]

I am going to take your advice and load one Saiga Mag with 00 and the other with strictly slug.

Then on my 870 pump home defense, I will fill with 00 and, like you have, fill my side holders with slugs.

Great info  [thumbsup]

Went to the gun shop today, but didn't purchase anything. Nothing really struck my fancy.

They had a bunch of .357 Sig (I think the model is P226) police guns for sale. they wanted 500$ a piece for them.

They appeared to be in good shape, but not in need of another gun right now.

I still have yet to shoot my Saiga or my Glock 33 (.357 sig).  [roll]

I am left eye dominate but right handed, so I am forced to shoot long guns off my left shoulder, which has had major surgeries done and I just got clearance from my doctor to start shooting again, so I hope to get out this weekend, but have some major home projects, so probably won't get out. Grrrrr.

F That!

For $100 more you can get the Sig 250.  Interchangeable trigger group will fit  frames ranging from sub-compact to full size plus you can drop the same trigger group into different caliber assemblies!  My next handgun will be a 250.

Cyrus B,

I also need major reconstructive shoulder surgery on my shooting shoulder (hmmm, too many buckshot and slug rounds??? [laugh]). When I do a lot of rifle or shotgun shooting I have one of the slip on PAST brand shoulder pads in my shooting kit. Sort of slips over the shoulder and has a velcro strap adjustment to hold it in place. Actually not a real bother at all. It's not so thick that it throws off your cheek weld on the stock. Damn sure keeps my shoulder from killing me that night or the next day. [thumbsup]

Just do a google search for PAST shooting/shoulder pad if you don't know what I'm talking about.

Wow, that sounds like a sweet gun. I'll have to check it out when I am in the market for my next gun.

I love HK's. My favorite gun outside my CZ 85 9mm; that thing is such a smooth gun and very accurate.

I'll check out the PAST shoulder pad. Thanks for the tip.

PM me about your shoulder. I've had a total of 4 surgeries on mine in 10 years. 2 being in the past year.

Finally am seeing a pain management doctor who rocks; he is not into opiate treatment which I don't want.

I have Voltarin Gel, lidoderm patches, and starting on some PT to work out the massive knot in my trap and getting fit for a TENS Unit (little pads and a controller that looks like a pacemaker to deliver the shock treatment).

PM me and I'll throw you my email so we can chat; I can offer some great advice as well as some shitty results from it.

No, that's a really good answer. Knowing how your shotgun patterns is very important. It was an important part of my class. We'd use fresh IPSC cardboard targets, take your favorite flavor of buckshot, then fire a round (center body mass) at 5 yards, make safe, sling your weapon, go downrange and mark the "outer" ring of pellet holes with a Marks-A-Lot. Connect a dot so to speak. Then repeat that drill at 7, 10, 15, 20 and 25 yards. You would mark the ring with the given distance you fired from. Obviously the drawn/connect a dot ring gets larger as you increase distance.

Brilliant!! Doing this next time I go out to the range. My barebones Rem870 Express 18" is my absolute favorite gun to shoot, so I'm drooling over this drill. Thanks for posting it up!

Overhere in the Netherlands you can legally get drugs , go to hookers drink when you are 16 but guns are a nono
Only thing you can buy are Airguns
This is mine

It's a Edgun (Russian ;D) is a single shot 5.5mm PCP , enough air for about 40 shots

Very nice!! That's a really cool looking airgun. It's got the whole Steyr AUG thing going for it.

I'm shuting the hell up now so we can go back to gun pics!! [laugh] And no I don't have any pics of my own, or my bikes. :P

Is an Air Gun one of those Air Soft guns that shoot plastic BB's?

I saw some at Bass Pro Shop a few weeks ago........wow.........they look like real military style guns, but obviously plastic and with the orange tip on the end of the barrel.

I bet those suckers hurt like a mofo to get shot with.

They do. Not knowing anything about them I jokingly shot my wife's grandkid in the belly with his. I really just thought this thing was a toy. When he grumbled about that, I shot myself point blank in the palm to see if it really hurt. Stings like a mofo.
Yes I got yelled at for this and deserved it too.  :P

My kid got grounded from his after he punched about 15 holes through the lamp shade in his room!! [bang] His classic dumb kid answer was "I didn't know they were going through it." :P End of Air Soft as he knows it. >:(
