I've read in a few reviews (and even browsed some of the triumphrat forums) and heard a number of times that the street triple has a snatchy throttle...  that it's really on-off.  Has it been in your experience?  Thats one thing I love about my Duc is the utterly smooth throttle response.  I also own a Yamaha FZ6 and riding the two bikes is like night and day!
I did have a little bit of a time getting used to the throttle, but after removing most of the slack from the throttle cable and replacing the bars with ones that put my wrists at a more natural angle, it is perfectly fine now.

I love Ducati and Nortons and Guzzis and I like and respect many other bike makes ,in fact I dont hate any motorcycle even ugly ones  that
I dislike ....BUT! there are many bike owners that I hate for their intolerant arrogant ignorance!!!!!!

Who are you referring to?  If you are referring to the remote control helicopter comment, he is right.  Nobody is saying it is a bad bike, but the Triumph triple doesn't sound that good at idle.  The Street Triple sounds too busy and too whiney at idle especially when compared to the nice growling base sounds from the Ducati twin.  Listen to the first few seconds of this one.  It sounds terrible.

Compare it to this.

Well what do you expect. Its a tripple. It has one more cylinder than two but one less than a four cylinder bike. It should sound like a cross between the two bikes and it does.

Think of it as a High RPM twin or a tourqey 4 cylinder.

BTW the twin headlights look good on those, as does the green paint. I think Triumph has a good thing going with those tripple bikes.

Speaking of civilization I'm about to get in the car and drive down to Sunnyvale for the weekend. Man all that traffic....
Ill get over it.

My brother in Australia has one and I rode it recently in Tasmania.  It is awesome, heaps of mid-range drive and screaming topend, blink and your there turn-in - it is a bike that will keep up with anything with a good rider.

i don't like this bike too much either. i don't know without that trellis frame, these other naked bikes look just like a streetbike without a fairing. although i have a friend that races a 675 and he loves the motor. oh well i would still take this over a 696, everyone knows that [thumbsup]

I rode the Daytona 675 today and I can completely see where both sides of the argument come into play.  Bottom line is that 675 triple engine is really really fun.  It feels smooth and effortless and had no issues at virtually any rpm.  Yeah, it doesn't have the same feel as a twin.  It also has minimal engine braking and a really cool sound under acceleration.  The engine feels like it was meant to/likes to run through the whole power band.

Its weird how all of my non riding friends think I would be crazy to trade a 620 ducati monster for a 675 Daytona.  Ducati really seems to have good universal name recognition/reputation.

I guess the bottom line is you have to ride what you want to ride.

I put a deposit down for a black Street Triple in Dec.  I took my deposit back... too long of a wait and the money was needed elsewhere.  As far as I know that dealer still hasn't received another Street Triple in any color.  I'll have one some day... or a Ducati.

I've never ridden a "street Triple" But I can vouch for my 955 speed triple , It's a blast to ride, plenty of torque, speed, and I think it's styling compliments the "Street fighter/Naked Bike" theme. To me it has a unique look, Just like my monster. I get compliments and stares on both bikes from all walks of life. Whenever I ride my F4 the only ones that look are the young kids on the rice bikes.
