Went down to the shop and watched Rick run around like a chicken with his head cut off for about 3 hours, then Brandon showed up and we watched Rick put the fairings back on the 848... ;D

You missed the good part. And the beers.   [beer]  Thank You to Brandon for all the help!

Yesterday - came back to Oahu, and suddenly missed Maryland.  At least my hotel room had a shower!
I did manage to rig up a temporary faucet and handle.  It won't let me adjust the temp, but at least I can get the water on and off.

Today - paint?  theoretically.  right now I'm taking a break from trying to remove the excess caulk I put up yesterday.  dumbdumbdumbdumbdumb....

The green is on the tri color seat patch. That's all.  Oh, I installed the carbon vents this afternoon.

woke up early, cooked breakfast for the GF, then did laundry. as I was about tell her i was going to use her 696 to go on the monthly ride, she tells me her brakes on the car need to be replaced... front and rear. so i tell her ill pick them up on my way home from the ride. she tells me she already has them. so there went the idea of riding motorcycles. after that, i decided to work on the shadow a little bit and found a bad fuel pump. then cleaned my aquarium and built a doggy wheel chair... well its more like a cradle then a chair

anyways time for bed.
it is so much easier to get forgiveness then it will ever be to get permission.

whackie

after the ride, went home n cleaned up. headed to PH to help out the bf. got home an hr ago. i'm getting sucked in, lol.

Changed the engine oil & filter, trans oil and diff oil in my M3, also cleaned all 4 ABS wheel speed sensors...

Made some small adjustments to my suspension based recommendations in a ducati.ms thread...seems to be an improvement, more compliance from the front end.

Also, removed my radiator guards in order paint them...used a can of old paint, which blew the paint out in small lumps...looks like sh*t...buying a new can of paint tomorrow.

Did you relax some damping?  You already had the preload backed out.

All the fork settings were stock per the manual, the new settings relaxed the preload by 2mm (20 vs 18), increased the rebound by 2 clicks (10 vs 12) and increased the compression by 1/4 turn (1/2 vs 3/4)...this was the recommendation for a 170 lb rider, I weigh 166...front end feels more compliant over the crappy H1 section between the PC off and the Stadium off...you'll have to give her a try and let me know what you think...

Do you recall if we adjusted the compression damping on the shock after we set the sag?  It was set at about 5 turns out, stock is 2 turns...

Picked up a can of "Hammered" Gray spray paint and painted the radiator guards, doesn't look too bad...if the paint doesn't hold up, carbon will be in the future...

Made a couple of small adjustments to the rear suspension and took a ride...H3, 13 turns and Norfolk x two, then to SSD via the Pali...also took a bit more slack out of the throttle cables, bike feels pretty good...

Had forgotten that we checked the sag on the front, but don't recall if we made any preload changes...maybe I need to go back to the way it was and relax the damping, rather than relax the preload and stiffen the damping...maybe we can figure it out on Sat...

This is why I keep notes.  The front of the bike was just a bit stiff for you. We were at the minimum allowable sag at the stock preload. Backing off the preload didn't change the settings at all so we left it at stock. Wouldn't do any good to tighten up preload as that would just make things worse. Nothing was done to any damping settings front or rear.

The rear ride height / preload was adjusted to make it softer for you and we actually got it into the proper sag range. This actually would have raised the front a bit during actual riding so I was thinking that would make the bike a little stiffer to turn. We just sent you out to ride it and see where you wanted the damping to go. You were also just about to get new tires so you wanted to see what difference that would make before you started adjusting anything else.

Get me to take it out to see what I think. Sure.......  [evil] .......  [cheeky]
