and sorry guys...in this one, no boobies option as they don't help Val in his pursuit to ride the Duc at Valencia!....at least, as far as we know anyway.

I thought in the press release they had mentioned something about his contract not allowing it?  ???

the way I read it was that they weren't sure if they would be able to allow that concession or not...

Like this is the racing, no?

Since he is leaving them to go to the competition, I wouldn't let him test.

even if he was instrumental in getting your bike and your team where it is today?  and the season is over?

the key arguement that Ducati could apeal to the Dorna/FIM/MotoGP commission with would be the limited amount of testing riders have in general, so an injunction could be sought on behalf of Ducati for to prevent Yamaha from keeping Rossi from testing the Ducati at the end of season Valencia tests....

and an arguement for Yamaha for to have Rossi go ride the Duc at that test would be the idea that since Rossi is leaving for Ducati, and everyone would be testing the basis bikes for the following year, do you want your direct competition to have that much knowledge about your 2011 machine by having a chance to ride the M1 for 3 days in testing RIGHT after the close of the season?!?!?!...it would seem to me to not serve their purposes very well at all for that to be the case....and there would be no reason to run Rossi around to lap on a 2010 machine for 3 days after the season has ended...

Yup.  But it's a bad move in this scenario.  Yamaha loses more face in PR than it gains in competitive advantage by preventing Rossi from testing, especially considering that Ducati is letting Casey test with Honda.  (yes, I'm talkin' out my ass here).  But more important, I can't think of anything stupider than giving Rossi even more motivation to make the beast with two backs your shit up.

(maybe i haven't had my coffee yet, but...)

huh? no matter what, rossi isn't gonna ride the 2011 yamaha. they've already started excluding him from testing that equipment (see the recent test at brno).

if yamaha doesn't allow rossi to test the duc post-valencia, he just goes home and enjoys his offseason (until january).

Huh?  As to the first point, Yamaha has a contract with Rossi.  I'm not sure Dorna can void that contract and tell them to allow him to test.  As to the second point, you're assuming Rossi has to test at Valencia.  Yamaha isn't going to make him do three days of testing but on the 2010 bike and they definitely won't give him the 2011 bike :).  He just won't test.

BTW, I'm more than just a little troubled that derby and I seem to be sharing a brain.

I know...and that is why it also begs towards the point of him being able to ride the Ducati...what point would it be for him to ride anything else for Yamaha???...and it'd be a black eye to keep a rider on the payroll to not work...

You guys all have good points. I know I'm being selfish to want to see Rossi on the bike in an official test. Truthfully though as far as competition goes I must admit that Yamaha should not let him test the Duc. I hope however that PR pressure allows them to reconsider.  [cheeky]

I guess we'll see... [popcorn]
