Sooooooo.... with the Multi sold... I can now actually think about a boat....

Four Winns
Glastron
Reinnell
Chapparell

(I know my spelling isn't perfect.)

Anybody have any first hand experience?? Looking for something in the 18 to 20 foot range.

Also, there seems to be a glut of 3.0 liter four bangers on the market... which as most moto guys feel... bigger is better... thinking I may need to go for the V-6 4.3 liter or bigger to actually get my fat gut out of the water when on skis or a wakeboard... not that I see either of those options on my knee for the remainder of this summer... just don't want to buy to small and regret it next summer... but too big could be a waste as well.

I know... I know... complaining about which boat to get is a small complaint.. but I did have to get rid of a Ducati to even start looking... at I would love to take any of you out on the water when I get one.  I also have to really think about storage costs... as I can not keep it on site... as nothing would fit in my garage... unless I go 15-16 foot boat... and that's just silly.

i've been looking at boats as well, but i need to sell my travel trailer first. I find my self most interested in the Grady White line...the ones with the walk around cuddy cabin. a good stable platform for the ocean, and i could even overnight with it a bit.

we will see..

Glastrons are fine boats.   mx175 is a 4 banger isnt it?

It is... but on that small of a  boat... you really dont need a bigger engine... plus... give me a year or two on something small.. let me master it... then go for something bigger.

I knew a guy who played the free boat game

even after successfully winning the game and getting his "free" boat

he said the very same thing

Yep.

My Dad is of the opinion that boats are just a place to pour money... but my opinion is that boats, motorcycles, and airplanes all fall into that category.  It's just a question of "how much?"  Motos are probably the cheapest, followed by boats... then airplanes are an order of magnitude more expensive (which, for as much as I love airplanes, is why I own a 2-wheeler and made airplanes into a career).

Anyway... they're all just money-sucking toys.

Still paying for the house, SO can drain the moolah pretty well, and college payback will probably be another 20 years... bikes cost money and boats... well... I guess it depends on if we like it enough to start upgrading... just like mods to a bike and racing.... it costs... life aint free.  [thumbsup]
