I have heard it really isn't that good........hell, the cost of the bottle is half the cost of the entire product.

Don't believe it. I have a friend who used to tend bar in the lounge at a 5 star restaurant and I have had KL XIV on more than one occasion. Trust me, It ROCKS!!!

And yes, the price does reflect the cost of the bottle.  [cheeky]
I've been wallowing in my own chaotic and insecure delusions.

Wife took the car to a body shop last night to get the estimate to see if it is worthwhile to use our 500$ deductible for the damage. Well, it was 300$ over the deductible but that didn't include the decal work which is estimated at 250-350$ just for the decal. They called their VW contact and said the part wasn't available which I thought was bullshit as they said the car was to new and they don't make it. Yeah, sure. It is on a production car and doesn't exist? Sure.

........to see if what was told to my wife was true.

It wasn't.

He called his buddy in parts at VW and got me the actual VW Part Number which does exist; it is on backorder, but the part is there, but there is a wait time. I am fine with that.

a couple of things...just as an FYI FWIW...and this is from my experience personally...

the TDI cup cars, as far as the end consumer knows, is a production based car. The problem that most customers buying those cars don't know is this...the TDi Cup kit of stuff that comes on the car, doesn't come that way from the factory. The TDi Cup cars are equipped as such with the body and sticker and accessory kit that you see at the port after the car arrives in America. When a parts department is looking up stuff oriented around 1 of these, if the parts people do not know any better, the VIN decodes as a general Jetta Diesel, and not as a special package edition, because the VIN decodes only what was put on AT the factory. I am saying this not as a defense of the VW parts department that the bodyshop/insurance estimator was dealing with, but more as an informative piece, since it is not a normal or easy thing to understand.

that being said, the TDi Cup decals for the 4 doors are as follows...

1K5-853-685 for the left front
1K5-853-686 for the right front
1K5-853-685-A for the left rear
1K5-853-686-A for the right rear

they all MSRP for $52.00 ea. and all are on Backorder currently with no progressive movement in the system for arrival dates....your best bet would be to pay the additional fee to upgrade the order to a RED order, because it will prompt VW to act a little more swiftly than not. A regular backorder will fill when they see fit, which is usually after they receive a few orders for a part and then apply to their vendor for to get a replacement supply. This is moreso crucial when it comes to accessories with VW as they do not( corporately speaking) see this is a vital part to the car and it's drivetrain or operation. It therefore does not get the "provide parts for 10 years" kind of application, because it isn't a necessity and therefore gets dropped after a simple matter of a couple. This isn't true of JUST VW, this is the case for alot of the manufacturers, as a matter of fact. Some expect those such items to be picked up by the aftermarket industry and care very little for the effort and investment to maintain those items otherwise.

BTW, be glad you didn't need any of the body kit stuff, as that stuff currently only comes as a part of a full body kit and takes several weeks to get through a dropship program, but luckily comes color keyed ready to install, but is pretty damned expensive.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

this is exactly why I love my 1992 Honda Civic complete with dented door and scuffed paintwork.Parts are readily available from any Honda dealer, wrecking yard or 17 year old kid.
As far as the decals on the car go, I got one from Imperial Tattoo in Portland, One from the HRC( as I think all humans no matter color gender or sexual orientation are equal) and one from Speedymoto.
These are all free and readily avaialble.
My car is a sleeper.
Yesterday I burned off from the light a WRX with a fattie exhaust making that obnoxious brrp brrp sound. Light changed and BGB was gone, Grabbed second and this guy was on my heels , At 7000 rpm BGB hits 3rd at sixty and this guy is in full view of my rear view mirror. I guess this 46 year old woman who was wearing a flowery blouse in a beater Honda showed that kid. .......It was effing brilliant.
When I turned right to get on the freeway the passengers were laughing at their friend's driving.  I still got it. [cheeky]

Thanks Zoom for your help on this.

We are going through insurance on this one (I need to call this morning to get some more info), so the body shop will be doing the ordering......so I will ask them to upgrade it to RED when they order from VW.

I actually figured all that stuff on the special editions were done outside the factory and not on a production line.

Don't the ford SVT's (any model) get modded outside the Ford factories too?

With your luck the decal will show up colored bright red now.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

The only way an 18 y.o. Civic could beat a WRX is 1) your car is souped up, 2) the WRX was going in reverse, 3) that kid is really a bad driver, or 4) a combo of the above.  That's funny.  BTW, if that's you in your avatar, you don't look to be 46.   [thumbsup]
But I digress, from what I read here, yes MonsterMash Rocks!.

That's what I was thinking too.

That little 4cyl civic has NOTHING on a WRX unless you hopped the motor up.
