Hey Will - Do they have dual compound streetbike tires for extra sticky cornering traction?  Maybe some strap-on knee pucks too  [thumbsup]

One of these days I'm going to line up at the starting line wearing full leathers and a full face helmet. How hilarios would that be?!

Congrats on the 4th yesterday! Hope you improve on it today! [thumbsup] You are right about the corner speed. Racing bicycles is a lot like racing 250GPs... corner speed is a huge plus. A good jump coming out obviously helps but what helps even more is gaining a couple of bike lengths going in and holding that speed through to the exit. Now it's obvious I ain't that fast on a scooter but I damn sure was faster on bicycles than a lot of guys that were clearly stronger than I was in a straight line. They just didn't corner as fast as they could sprint and they just never figured it out. Anyway, look forward to hearing some more good news about today's race.

ps   Guess Mladin didn't get to hook Spies out of the sprint? Maybe next race. [laugh]

Thanks Brian. Todays race I felt great and I was in good position; everything under control; got em just where I want em, then BAM!!! my seat breaks loose. I hi-tailed it back to the wheel pit for a quick fix before re-joining the pack only to find that the tension bolt that holds the seat rails sheared off. Luckily a teammate was there with a similar framed bike to lend. The officials let me catch on the back of the pack as they came around. Unfortunately his seat height was about an inch or two shorter than mine so I had a hard time getting accustomed to his setup AND keep my heart rate at a manageable level. I ended up pulling out an 8th place finish which will give me some TX cup points so it's all good. Yesterdays payout was $55 and I'll probably get $20 for the 8th place today so I made back my registration fees and gas! BONUS!  [thumbsup]

Cool man! Sorry for the mechanical malfunction. It's nice that they pay $$$ for catagories other than Cat1 these days. Used to be a win in Cat3-4 would get you a nice set of center pull brakes (do they still make those?) or set of Paris-Roubaix sew ups... which actually were pretty good. Some crits you could make more money winning prims and not even bother with placing on the podium. The old 4th of July criterium in Highland Park put on by Dallas Bicycle Racing Club was a good local prim payer... does DBRC even still exist? Will (no pun intended) have to check out one of your races. Let me know when the next ones are. Couldn't make this weekend's races.

b.b.

Finally able to get back on the board. The transition was not my friend.  Anyhow, I will know by Wednesday if I can make it, but I am pushing hard for the go ahead.
