Just finnished an inexpensive mod today.

I had previously dropped the headlight and was not happy with the clocks still up high.
This cost me about $20 and an hours labour.
As I have pulled apart this area now many times it did not take me long.
I had previously over tightened the clock bolts snapping the dampening rubber so I had to repair
this , I ordered new rubbers but decided to go all the way.

I have read many methods of doing this on the main board but decided to go my own way.
I did not want to pay $100 for a U frame quoted at moto wreckers (this holds the headlight bucket)
So I trolled the interweb and found one in the UK payed $10   thus saving my original un damaged.
I did not need to grind then reweld the tabs off that hold the bucket as I have used a scap piece of alloy bolted to them lowering the headlight.
So all I had to do was hacksaw about 3 cm from the top of the U frame swap the alloy extenders on to it
re spray it and put it back in place.
I spent about $10 on some new bolts nylock nuts rubber grommets and washers , I then used a half bastard file to take the top shoulder off the clocks where the cap bolts go through then mounted the clocks under the triple and bolted it all up.
Headlight back on , cracked a frothy cold Coopers and happy days

Don't you also have to drill the threads out of the top triple so you can run a bolt through.
The clocks normally tighten into the mentioned rubbers and into a thread in the triple.

I'd really like to do this job but I'm very nervous about taking a drill to my lovely Speedy Moto front end. 

Matty, when I did mine I dind have to drill the triple clamp. Took me a little while to figure how to do it, but not hard at all to do.

Matty I did not drill out the threads!
I have kept all/most of my mods reversible , I used the same thread diameter as the existing triple.
I went in to the local stainless fixing supplier with the threaded top cap that attaches the clocks found a matching hex head bolt long enough (50 mm) to screw down through the triple leaving enough length below to slide the clocks under with washers/rubber grommet's top and bottom to secure the wider diameter clock holes, then nylock nuts
to finish.
The only irreversible was filing the plastic shoulder next to the holes of the clock
The pictures I took of this were IZ_ so deleted .
I will attempt to take one for you with my shitty camera.
It was shit easy  

I'll have to take a look next time we're out. It has been on my list of to do's for a while.
