I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

CONFIDENCE: the feeling you have right before you understand the situation.

Correction "my perspective". I am the dot in the mirror
that passes the cagers' mirror.

Interesting that the open job position at AMS is still on their website. Especially in this economy. Wish Brian Sharp was back, he was a great guy!! [thumbsup] I assume he's still at Boulder Motor Sports. Good for them, wish him the best! [clap] If anyone is interested contact AMS. Check out their website!!

It was a good day for a ride [moto]
I will periodically check the tightness of
my oil filter as it was loose and leaked
as I warmed up the Monster. Jason said
he has had issues like this too

ive had that before too, both with k&n and ducati oem filters. i blame temp changes and hard gaskets.

Ducati's spec for the oil filter is 11 n-m, which is the time-honored "slightly more than hand-tight". That's what they always tell you to do automotive oil filters, but it doesn't seem to work with the temperature range and vibration of air-cooled 2-cylinders. Maybe a low torque spec recommendation ensures that the nipple doesn't comes out with the filter the next time it is removed.

I had bad leakage with a WIX filter at 11 n-m, so I coated the gasket with dirty oil (seals better than clean), and spun it up to about twice that number. That was two filters ago, and I've experienced no leaks, and haven't broken or extracted the nipple, since using this technique.

You can always put a hose clamp on the filter and safety wire it to something to prevent rotation

caffeinejunkee

+1 on using your old oil for the new gasket.

Also, K&N filters come with a hole for safety wire.  [thumbsup]

and if you don't use K&N, TPO makes a bracket that's very similar to the ol' hoseclamp for safety wire.

Does that cost more than a hose clamp?
