It is almost a mid-late 1950's early 60's retro kind of stupid

One dimensional characters, overt behaviors that are way overplayed

much more plausible if they had set it to have occurred in the 1950's

Now that you mention it, the show would be better set in the 1950s.....

I saw that.  But, the movie was released in the UK about a year and a half before it was released in the US.  So, the timeline would go: 28 Days Later released in UK, The Walking Dead published, 28 Days later released in the US.

Overall, meh.  Not a real big deal for me to begin with, and even less of a deal to me now that the plot line has veered pretty far away from that.  It would be annoying if the series continued to rely on dropped-in-the-middle-of-the-zombiepocalyse as a device - I am glad they haven't

I just don't get it

Why would that dumb make the beast with two backser saw off his hand and not the chain or the tiny pipe??

It just doesn't make sense.

I only watched the pilot, but have the comics. The character dev comes later. Rather than spell it out, it comes through conflicts. Of course, by ep 3 you might already be seeing that.

I'm still not 100% on who was affected by the "event" right at the end of the episode.

I think that the lack of clarity is intentional after seeing next weeks preview.
