there is a collective sigh of relief sweeping across the Pond...i couldn't decide if Oregon played that bad or Cal was playing that well.

a little of both.  Cal does great at home.  laMichael James had a hurt ankle and OR played smart, but OR only had one offensive TD.  The other was a punt return b/c Cal's kicker booted the ball downfield beyond the coverage team.  Cal's defense rose to the occasion.  Unfortunately, our offense w/ #2 QB couldn't get the passing game going.

not the only difference, but a biggie was Cal's botched FG attempt at 24 yds, an illegal motion on the place kicker of all people, a completed FG erased by that penalty, then the 29 yd FG attempt sailed wide right.  That would have put Cal ahead by 1 point.  damn, if only...

next week, Cal hosts Stanford in our BIG rivalry game.  with the confidence that we almost upset #1 OR, we could give Stanford a run for their money.  crossing fingers and sayin' prayers.

have a good week everyone.  ciao!

Yes go Cal this week and beat Stanford.  Lots of TCU and Boise fans upset that you couldn't put the dagger in the ducks.

I don't see Wisonsin losing so I'm hoping for an at large BCS bid for my Buckeyes.  I say Sugar against the "home" team LSU Tigers or Orange with VT (who shouldn't be allowed in the BCS since they got beat by a D2 school).

The Big East and maybe the ACC should be left out of the BCS unless their conference winners are in the top 15. Sucks that a barely bowl eligible Big East team will get in and one of TCU/Boise might not.

+1 There are a lot of teams more deserving than the Big East winner.

The next couple weeks will be make or break for Boise...Fresno State this week, then Nevada (at Nevada, currently BCS #18) the following week. Fresno isn't ranked, but they're no push over either, and Nevada could be very tough. I expect them to pass TCU in the standings if they beat both.

Go Nevada though.  ;D

Yeah Boise should pass TCU.  That signature Utah win is looking less and less impressive.

Fresno/BSU was a good game last year.
my favorite part was Fresno had a bad play, and the stadium erupted into a series of boos.
guy next to me turns and asks incredulously 'are they booing their own team??'
yup.  ;D

So no Oregon, Auburn or TCU this week.  Tonight's game should be really good.

Looking forward to Wisconsin beating down Big Blow and then for the Buckeyes to try and come out swinging instead of sluggish against the Hawkeyes.  I think Iowa is a pretty good team and Stanzi can throw but their lack of depth has killed them lately.  Pryor says this is his "favorite" game plan since being a Buckeye so I'm guessing he's going to do a good bit of running. They might stop us in the first half but their d-line has shown they get tired in the 4th and Boom will be running all over them.  Looking for a big win on a weekend where a lot of the country will be watching.

Hoping to get LSU in the Sugar now.

Just remember what happened last year after the loss to Northwestern by the Hawkeyes.
2009- The week following a loss to Northwestern, the Hawkeyes gave Blowhio State everything they could handle forcing overtime in which Ohio State ONLY won by 3, 27-24 AT the 'Shoe.

You may be counting them out but only a fool will discount the Hawkeyes. The Hawks have a knack for turning disheartening losses into stunning victories. Just ask how then #3 Wisconsin faired in 2008 and then later in the year, then #1 Penn State did. And the roster hasn't changed all that much.

I reiterate, only a fool will discount the Hawkeyes.

Iron Bowl time. We may not make it into the NC game, but we can certianly hurt Auburn's chances. I do want Cam Newton playing though. I want to beat Auburn at their best.
