Ha....Top Gun 2?  Holy crap.  Homoeroticism rides again.  On the bright side, if Tom Cruise gets the lead role again he'll feel five feet tall, and will regain that confident glint in his crazy, crazy eyes.

Not so much movie news, as it is TV news, but for those of you who grew up during the era of Voltron, it looks like the cartoon is getting a reboot in 2011 to coincide with the 25th anniversary:

On movie fronts, it looks like another 80's cartoon will be making a return.

Whether or not it's going to be a live action flick or a cartoon remains unknown.

Thundercats was way better than Voltron.
Panthro was my favorite, but I think Cheetara may have hastened my advancement toward puberty

I liked both shows. But it's not fair to compare them against one another as they are way different.

I definitly was more of a fan of Voltron than I was of the Transformers though. The combining of Voltron was awesome no matter how many time you saw it!

But I was a Mazinger/Tranzor Z fan as well and you can see the similarities.

As it goes, I wish they'd do a live action film of the cartoon M.A.S.K.

oh, i know... just like gatchaman and g-force were different. =)

...or the way they linked three different series together to make robotech.

;D

that said, i still think they've done the lion voltron 2-3 times even if you ignore 'beast king golion'.

as a side note, i still have my original bandai godaikin golion toy (purchased pre-voltron) in my parent's attic.

That's a rare item to have now-a-days my friend. And that baby's all diecast goodness too!

Buried somewhere in my childhood things, I've got a diecast one still in the box made by Matchbox. Actually, I think that I have both the lion and vehicle Voltrons.

...along with a G1 Optimus Prime (unopened).

According to imdb, the 2011 release of Thundercats will be a remake of the television series which has a partial cast listed as "voice". There is a scheduled 2012 release date for the movie.
