^^ well why have it if your not gonna train. My point really was that the short barrel will work easily from 300 and in, without a scope. Eotech, Aimpoint etc will work just fine at those distances.

I've never bought more than a barreled upper off the shelf.  ARs are too easy to build.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Time, money, range availability, and lack of a trainer/knowledge are the reasons most folk I know don't "train"

they just go shoot potatoes in the pit that is roughly 90yrds

but

they all have AR's/M-14's/G3's that they own "in case"

same way they all have lifted trucks and mud tires that only see the highway

Guess it's been a long time since I've been looking for AR stuff then.  I remember as a kid just itching for the money to get a flattop upper receiver for my fixed stock 16" lightweight.  Oh how the times have changed.

Not having these things is not a reason to waste the time available shooting at potatoes. With limited range time, you need to make the most of it.  [thumbsup]

I've never been a big fan of the collapsible stock. I really like the way the 16" barreled ARs handle but most of mine have fixed stocks. I only have one with a collapsible stock. I've thought about swapping it for a fixed but have just been too lazy. It's not that I hate shooting it, it's a great shooter! I just don't have a need to shorten the length for storage and I don't wear a thick bullet proof vest so there's no reason to adjust stock length. The rifle just came that way. It was a good price at the time and I figured I would swap it out some day or trade it to a friend for their fixed stock. Oh well, still might happen some day.

That little Sporter Lightweight steered me away from my 20" barrel H-bars all those years ago.

Yes.  There is a really make the beast with two backsing stupid AR type gun... the ones with 11" barrels, but to comply with the NFA they WELD on a 5.5" "flash suppressor" so the barrel is legally 16.5 inches... totally negating the purpose (and a very limited one that it is) of having an 11" barrel on an AR.  Want a short-barreled AR? Don't wanna play with the NFA taxes on SBR's? Get an AR based pistol.

Who actually sells these?  I've seen plenty of 14.5" bbls with pinned flash suppressors, to make them legal, but none like you describe.

ducatiz

I've seen them in ahotgun news.  Not many.  Usually just as a barreled upper and as "NFA only".

AeroGeek

Slag here,

The shorter uppers are also compatible with with the AR pistols.  If you have a 10" upper and a pistol lower than you are good.  It is not advisable to have an upper less than 16" without having an AR pistol or an SBR stamp.  Just because it isn't built doesn't mean you are legal.

On a side note, why does old fastwin post so so much in the pic thread, but has never posted a pic?  AeroGeek likes these threads, and does not want to see them go.

You'd need a camera to post a pic. I don't do cameras. I, like others, need to keep our BS over here. We're trying. [thumbsup]

One could post pics here though. Right?

Absolutely! There's no reason you can't put pics on this thread. Just don't steal good pics from zzilla's thread. Post 'em on both and BS about 'em over here. I'm sure some folks would rather just see the pics and not wade through the discussions.

Just my 2 cents.
