You certainly have the room to try it...

I'll get to work on it. [cheeky]
I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

Lived in Austin all during the early 70s to 1980. Moved back home to Big D. Austin is a rocking town for sure but it has grown and morphed so much in that time it's hard for me to recognize it anymore. There is a kick ass hill country DMF board down there that I'm sure you probably know about. The roads down there stomp our weak ass north TX roads but we are that much closer to Arkansas which has killer roads! At least for this part of the 50 states. Everything is relative. ;D But I would still rather head to AR than fight the traffic of the hill country. It's not the laid back 70s anymore down there. But still a pretty damn cool place to live! [thumbsup] Hope you get there soon! [moto]

Everyone thought I was nuts buying all the cheap Norinco ammo when Micheal Tinney was the importer years ago. He's the guy who used to own Gun List, sold it and started Cheaper Than Dirt with some other folks. Who knows if he still has anything to do with it. In between Gun List and CTD he was the Norinco guy. I still have cases of Chinese 9mm, .45, .223, .308 and 7.62x39. Should have sold a bunch of it during the ammo crunch and bought a new Duc with the proceeds! [laugh]

I remember the good old gun show days (late 80s early 90s) when Tinney would set up his "all things Norinco" booth. You could buy a Norinco SKS and a 1200 rnd case of 7.62x39 ammo for $200!!!! There's no telling how many of those $200 package deals he sold at every show. There would be a parade of empty two wheel hand trucks going in and just as many fully loaded heading back out!

I even bough one of the Norinco 1911s they made. Not the prettiest pistol around but my gunsmith dropped in a Videcki trigger, cleaned up the action, fitted a NM bushing and did a little polish work on the ramp and voila! Pretty decent, cheap as shit, hard working 1911! Who'd a thought? [thumbsup]

I bought a few cans of the Norinco 7.62 russian and someone told me to put a magnet on the projectiles and sure enough, its all steel core.  I don't know if it's mild steel or what but it had no problem penetrating a car door and exiting the opposite car door.  That was from a short barreled SKS too.

Tinney moved on because the laws changed and Norinco got banned from importing any firearms.  I bought two of their 1911s for $150 each (!!) and would do it again.  I cleaned up and shot one and the other is still in the box, but I gave the used one to a friend.  I like it just because it's hand fit and surprisingly tight.  Little things are shitty on them, but they fire well.  I don't like the steel in the barrel, so that gets swapped but the slide and frame are hammer forged and hard as hell.

"Cheaper than Dirt" is anything but.  Nice place to shop to see whats around, but I have no problem getting far cheaper prices.  I guess his dirt is some of that super-duper potting soil that comes in 2 lb bags?

The days of the $200 sks + ammo are long gone.  :-/

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

I don't buy much from CTD because I end up paying for FedEx and state taxes. I will say that if and when I do order from them it is here the very next day. They have kick ass customer service! [thumbsup] What's the point when you can order on line somewhere else and avoid the taxes. Too lazy to drive to the other side of the metroplex and pick it up in person. I'd rather play soccer in a minefield in Iraq!! Don't get me started on DFW drivers and traffic. [bang]

Yeah, I knew about the Norinco getting squeezed out of the US part. He didn't make a bad move starting CTD. [laugh] Do you have any idea how much money they made because of Y2K? They could have bank rolled the government on what they made off of Army cots, blankets, canteens, MREs and ammo!!! [laugh]

Those Norinco 1911s were kinda sweet weren't they. Quite a pleasant surprise. [thumbsup]

Might be time to get me some more XM193...

i don't know if that excludes ammo purchases, i know they treat them differently for discounts.

Hmmm...  Thoughts on Federal vs American Eagle 193?  Looks like the AE is manufactured by Federal, using the same Lake City brass, same bullet traveling at the same velocities and delivering the same terminal performance...

i would doubt there is a difference in performance characteristics.. are you looking on the SPG website?  don't trust their info, they are often wrong.

However, the AE stuff has been very good in my experience.  Some of the LC-brassed stuff is actually XM193 (well, I should say was cause there are probably no overruns nowadays...)
