"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

On their site it show 6-9 shot variants. I like the pistolg grip design but wont know if its useful to me til I shoot both..

I also really like the Mossberg factory ghost ring sights. They are very durable and the sight picture is excellent. I have them on all my 'bergs including my class III shorties 'bergs. [thumbsup] I've seen other (not Wilson/Scattergun Tech) aftermarket ghost rings come apart during classes. Some are just way too delicate for their intended use. No problems with Benelli m1/super 90 g/r sights either.

I noticed some of the 870s only come with a front bead sight...

Possible to add a ghost ring setup to those or would I be better off starting with a different 870 if I even go the 870 route?

It won't take you long to figure out the pistol grip only style scattergun only look good on TV/movies or for jacking up convenience stores. A full stock is really the only way to go in the real world. A pistol grip full stock is fine (still not for me) but why would you need the shortened length of just having a pistol grip? Try making some precise aimed shots with that. And the "I'll just shoot from the hip" statement is BS. Again, they might look cool to some... great, knock yourself out. What do I care? But in real world, self defense deployment a full stock just makes too damn much sense. Imagine a rifle or carbine set up that way. How useful would that be? Talk amongst yourselves... ;D

You can get 18" barreled 870s with rifle sights from the factory. My personal favorite on my 870s and Police 1187s are Wilson ghost rings.

They are the original Scattergun Technology sights that have worked awesome since day one. Long before Bill Wilson bought the company.

I got an email today stating that the ammo I ordered near the end of last week was actually back ordered.  So I had to order some from a different supplier today.

What were you trying to get?

.45 FMJ and some XM193.  Getting the .45 just for "plinking", and the 5.56 for plinking and hoarding.   :D
