transitioning to "hard shell" boots

I've been wearing Sidi Doha boots for the last couple years and love them. (http://www.newenough.com/street/boots/sport_street_touring_boots/sidi/doha_motorcycle_boots.html)

However, with all the rain here in SoCal, I just bought a pair of the Sidi B2 Gore-Tex boots. (http://www.newenough.com/street/closeouts/boots/sidi/b2_gore_tex_motorcycle_boot.html

This morning was my first ride with them.  Compared to the Doha's, the B2's (1) are more bulky around the foot, (2) have a hard shell, and (3) are stiffer around the ankle which limits flexibility.  As a result I found it difficult to "feel" the shifter and rear brake, and overall my feet felt clunky due to the larger size of the boots.

I'm curious if this is a normal first reaction to wearing a boot like this, and if it's something you simply get used to and/or the boot needs a break-in period.

I'm guessing the answer is yes, just curious if anyone else has FHE.  Thanks in advance.

The Bearded Duc

Hey John, I don't have the B2's but when I bought my boots there was a "getting used" to period. I hated them at first. I couldn't feel a thing, there was no movement at all in my foot and it felt like I almost had to stand up to get my toe in between the foot peg and the shifter.

After a few rides, maybe 15 or so, I loved them! Even if I'm just riding around town I wear them.

Give them some time, I think you'll start to really like them.

Artful

I went from work boots (I know, I know) to Sidi B2s about three years ago. It takes a few rides to get used to the feeling, but after they break in and riding with them for a while I HATE riding in anything else.

You'll get used to them, promise.
Every time I meet a new group of your friends that understand you and your weird sense of humor I'm a little more amazed that there are other people in the world like you that lived through childhood - My loving girlfriend

I went with Sidi Sport Waterproof boots. They're not hardshell but they were really stiff at first. I couldn't feel a thing and mis-shifted like crazy for the first week. Now, like the other, couldn't see myself riding without them. I'm thinking of getting the Doha for the summer.
