I'm an English guy living in France! I'm 61 and I've been riding most of my adult life. Almost all my bikes have been new, which has involved a continuous bank loan. I now can't afford new bikes anymore so I ended up buying the oldest, cheapest bike I've ever owned. It's a 2000 Monster 900s and it's the most fun I've ever had from any bike, I love it (although I would like a new 1100).

Welcome  [thumbsup]

Give it some attention and it will continue to bring you joy for many years [moto]

Where in France are you? I was in the south east last summer - great riding roads and I noticed that the new tougher rules of full stop signs seems to be working well. I read somewhere that France has had a 50% drop in fatal accidents over the last ~10 years...

I rode from Allessandria Italy to Apt - then NorthEast to Val d'Isere. My favorite was the route 900 - fantastic!

Thanks, I live in central France, near Dijon. Plenty of roads round here have no stop or yield signs and still rely on the old 'give way to the right'. Very dangerous. Apart from that it's perfect bike country.

If it was me, living that close to the Alps, I wouldn't be able to concentrate  8)

Have fun [moto]

Yes it's pretty awesome, just like this site! In a way I wish I'd never discovered the site because it's going to cost me a fortune. The more I look round the more stuff I realize I really need for my bike, and the knowledge here is amazing. I have always done basic maintenance myself and even chopped the rear fender on a new Thunderbird Sport a few years ago, but I now feel I can go much further with the Monster thanks to this site. It's the best m/cycle site I have come across.

That's ok, I've spent most of my adult life throwing money at bikes.
