Dainese Back Protectors

So who on here wears a stand alone D back protector?  If you do, what jacket/trouser combo do you wear, and how does the protector interface with it?  I am curious how one of these would work with my two-piece set up, and if it would be better to use a stand alone, or an insert for the jacket...

Discuss.

My Wave takes up quite a lot of space in my pants - space that I didn't have last summer [bang] (next summer!!)
I had to wear my two piece without the benefit of zipper connection, with the protector outside the pants.
The insert protectors are quite a bit smaller, so less coverage.

I my experience, the back protectors doesn't make the jacket fit much snugger - well, a little, but not as much as expected.

I use a Shield Air G1 in my D Laguna Seca perfed jacket. Fits in easily and is comfortable. Next time CAM and BAD get together remind me and I'll wear that jacket down if you want to do a test fit.

Thanks for the offer.

And thanks for the insight Lars.  I guess I am mainly curious how the larger stand alone protectors work/feel when you have the two piece attached with the zipper.

We have a Wave - love it for what it does.

Stand alone, or an insert?

It's the full wave - stand alone. Although it would be nice to get one that fits in our jackets, we really prefer the full length stand alone model. It just feels safer and it stays in position very well.

I've got a Wave (stand alone), and Dainese jacket and pants.

It doesn't compromise the fit of either, but I'm 6'1" 165 lb, so the jacket and pants are pretty roomy.

[laugh] Not poking you in the eye, just mentioning that to get the arms and legs long enough, the body fit is 'roomy'.

I have a Dainese Jacket Wave V 3 Neck that I sometimes wear under a Dainese leather short Jacket, ( inside my Pants ) zipped to Dainese leather Pants.

It snugs up things but not to the point of being uncomfortable.

I mostly wear a stand alone BMW Back Protector, level 2, or a level 2 BMW Protector Jacket/w, Back Protector ( which fits down in my leather Pants a bit ) and I zip my whatever Dainese leather Jacket I happen to be wearing that day to my Dainese leather Pants.

No problem.

I used to have the same problem back when I was racing (cycling).  Now, lets just say that at 6'4" I fill out an A* size 46 full leather suit quite nicely :)

Curious where this thread goes.  I'll be buying one this year for certain.
