Cans are illegal in most states correct?
Have to pay the Fed tax.

not sure about individual states.

I fairly certain they are only illegal in 11 states (of course I don't know which ones)

but they need the magic 200 dollar stamp

$200 bucks huh. . .

well, I can justify that in ear plug savings.

It will take time, but dammit, there will be a savings :D

Try again. The SD has a big, non removeable can. It is non removeable, right? I think it is. I've only shot MP5s with cans on 3 lug barrels. HK94s are the normal, 16" barrel, semi auto version of the MP5s.

I noticed it said HK94. . .

I just thought it was amusing with the gold and all

On another note, anyone use one of these?

The Finns don't take shit off of anyone. Ask the Russians. The Winter War between Finland and Russia began Nov. 30, 1939 and ended in mutual truce on March 12, 1940. The Russians took one hell of a beating. They lost 25% of their air force, hundreds of thousands of causalities and wounded and probably regretted ever picking on the Finns. I can see them thinking silencers are no big deal. They like to shoot. [popcorn]

There was a great article that someone posted I think on the Gun Pic thread (maybe???) about a Finnish sniper in that war that just kicked ass on the Russians. Anyone remember that story? If anyone finds it re-post it here please. It's a good one!

His name is Simo Haya, nicknamed "White Death" by the Soviets.  He used an UNscoped mosin nagant rifle.

same as machine guns except cans can be new manufacture.  states that disallow mgs also disallow cans (and sbrs and aows).  cans and mgs are on the same form.

Not really. Unless you are loading 4-500 rds on a cold day. Like you said not really necessary.

I doubt any state laws would trump federal laws. But I am no lawyer. The deal with any Class III weapon (or silencer, etc.) transfer is getting the proper official in your county/parrish/province to sign the ATF paperwork for you. Commonly it's the Chief of Police, The District Attorney, the Sheriff or a State District Judge that hears felony criminal cases. Not a misdemeanor criminal court judge, Justice of the Peace, or a civil/municipal court judge. Then you would have to submit that to the ATF for a complete ATF and FBI background check, along with your $200 cashiers check for the tax stamp. The law was passed in 1934 when you could buy a Thompson machine gun at your local hardware store. No shit! I don't believe it's really been messed with or modified much since then. Maybe ducatiz can chime in about that legal part. ;D

The other way to do it is to form a corporation and have the weapon, etc. transferred into the corp.'s name. It's all very legal and people do it all the time. Not me... just saying. I'm sure all of this info is available on line at the ATF's website.

Cokey, you should check with your local authorities for their spin on this. Or wait to you move to Texas!! [laugh]

Thanks ducatiz!! That's the Finn I was talking about. I just need to find that story link and re-post it. Great read. The Russkies finally shot him in the face but he survived. Not many Russians did when they crossed his path. I think they even had a bounty on him. Not so much a $$ reward but just a "kill that guy" order. Kind of like the Viet Cong had on Whitefeather.
