nope, the tablet as well. there are a series of buttons on the actual video image, has sharp lines and is more the size a a legal pad compared to the rounded smaller letter size iPad

The tablet computer was kinda the norm for scifi for years though.

Sorry I picked a bad example.  Should have looked closer as that was an actual ipad.

You are correct that the one in the movie is slightly different with sharper lines and a row of buttons at the bottom.  Don't forget the IBM logo too.

Slight details aside I think they were PLENTY close to nailing it way back in 1968.

I'm still impressed.

yes and no.

back then, it was just a tool that they were using (in the movies).

today, it's some kind of holy grail of coolness peddled by a rich self-absorbed wanker who thinks you shouldn't have flash.

But I have to say I *love* the Ikea utensils Dave Bowman is using..
