yep....found it in my xmas stocking ....what a great bloke that Santa is
must say now we have got to know each other it is a sensational bike....lucky enough to be able to keep the monster for fun rides as well

mattyvas

You kept that pretty quiet :-X
Is that a bit of Bayliss fairing.

hambo

yep....some chinese fairings to keep the originals in good condition ...must say i was surprised how good the quality was for $300 ish ....not trying to keep it a secret but just had not seen to many from the forum since xmas.......look fwd to catching up with eveyone soon ....as soon as it cools down a bit.......imaging being at the track today  [laugh] [laugh]...........regards hambo

Since we are on the topic, how does it go? How is the power compared to the s2r? Handling etc?

Ok ....1. most obvious difference is posture....great for committed riding...lousy for just cruising along and traffic
2. steering is more precise and turn in requires only 50% of the effort of the s2r ...so initially you over steer corners [laugh]
3. stability on smooth road is just awesome at speed and once steered in a corner its uncanny how well and effortlessly it holds a line...handles a few bumps ok one the susp is set up for 70kg
4.power ...off the line the s2r would have it to about 80kph then the 848 would dissapear....roll on acc at road speed about the same ....UNTIL tach hits 7k then 7..till11.5........then there is a real difference in favour of 848..not frightening but feels like that to end spurt you get from a good in line 4 of about a litre
5. Brakes....848 just another level...monster stops well 848 is scary if you grab them....you really need to feel for grip as you pull them on as you get the sensation  that it would happy pitch the unsuspecting over the front [laugh] [laugh]

so there you have it monster wins on fun day rides any longer than a few hours and lets you keep the liscence any enjoy all the fun in relative comfort ..........848 wins when you really want to give it a squirt and it has the capability to be far better than me on the road or the track....so i guess i just need to keep  [moto] [moto]

hope that helps tri ....but better still c u next track day and you can find out for yourself........regards hambo

Mate, would be interested to see how it goes compared to the MV. I have been thinking lately that I would like a little more power. Was thinking MV 312r or a 1098s but the 848 could be a great option.
What group are you in on the Ozmo track day?

Did level 2 yesterday, again some very useful info. For those who haven't done it it's all about visual input and transferring that info to the controls. Got some new scrapes on the knee pads too 8). Definately got quicker as the day went on.
If it wasn't so expensive I would be booking my next one  :o
