My memory of Thunderbolts was me and a mate trying to out run a storm that was coming in from the south east, the rest of the touring party gave up and stopped to put wet weather gear on, all I remember was it was fast (very) and bumpy.

Well home at last.  Took an enjoyable, indirect route home.  Found some gravel that was way too deep to attempt so turned back.  Found closed roads in the Grampians closer to home so had to turn back there too. Weather turned cool and cloudy 5kms from home and it's now raining so maybe it's not Victoria but Hamilton that has the problem!! Will write up my road research in a separate thread.

Had an excellent time on tour.  Like Goldy my camera stayed packed away whilst Matty was around. Excellent photos as always Matty.  Some of them are screaming out for captions. Glad you're okay Cakeman.  Let us know how the repairs go.  Wish my bike was as clean as Teflon's.

All up I did 4081km and my Odo is now reading 79 761km so my next outing is the 300kms to Brad's shop.

Things I learned on this trip.

I can do 292km on a tank and still have a litre of fuel left and can strap a 5L fuel can on my bike so that it doesn’t spill. (This happened prior to the start of Le tour de Oxley whilst I was making my way to Sydney)
Banana smoothies cure a hangover. Try it.  [wine]
Having low sided myself in December, it is more sickening watching a riding companion having an off.
There is a limit to how fast I feel comfortable going. (May have something to do with the point above) Thanks for waiting for me guys.
The Oxley Hwy is not as much fun in the rain.  :'(
After a 670km day, it takes quite some time for feeling to return to certain parts of the body. (This was on my way home after the tour Bathurst to Beechworth)  :o
OzMo people are the best people in the world to go touring with. (Nah â€" I already knew that) [thumbsup] [moto] [thumbsup]

Lovely to know you are home Heather.
I'd love to do 292k's from a tank, though I did get home easily from Lithgow on that fill, I am sure my fuel light will come on quickly though.
You know we'd always wait for you whenever on the road, as you know it's not about the pace it's about the ride and the company.
Thanks for the photo compliment but they are all snap shots really just to record the people and the time away.

I ticked 30,000k's on THE Putty on the way up and 31,000k on the way down on The Bylong Valley Way.  ;D

Tyres are next for a few of us.

Attendees of Le Tour de Oxley 2011.

Brian "The Norse of Rain"
Heather "I'll go on Tour"
Craig "Your not recording this"
Andrew "my ass hurts"
Nick "Double shot, half milk, latte"
Matty "Will you put that camera down"

It was a late start to Thursday morning I'm told, Nick and I were 1 minute and 50 secs late to the meeting point I'm told by Heather who always had her lid on first after every fuel stop ready to go before any of the blokes.
The first run up the hill to Colo Heights saw Craigo fire out in front on a hot run, it was not easy work catching him up before we stopped in for the first of many fuel stops for the thirsty and fun to ride 4 valvers.

Can I say again I am not good friends with the Pilot Pures I am running and they will shortly be gone as will a couple of others be needing new rubber.
The rest of the run up the Putty was pretty good, Craigo was certainly on my tail the whole way his skills on the "plush suspension" of the S2R800 opened everyones eyes the whole 3 days. Once we got out of the fun and were on the run into Singleton (more fuel) we lost one of the touring group after his OCD played tricks on him.
Into Gloucester for lunch and more fuel (are you getting the theme) by way of Dungog/Gresford which was a little bumpy but enjoyable none the less.
After lunch was the run up Thunder bolts into Walcha for our first night of country hospitality!!!
So much fun up that bit of road, pretty decent when it comes to surface or I might just be remembering it differently. A little stop at the look out on the top of the mountain then over the other side where the corners are mostly 75-95+ leading to long long long straights. It didn't take too long for the pace to increase and increase and...... well someone took off and one after the other we caved and played chasing!!! Of course we only reached about 135k's officer, honest we did.

The road we had gone to ride got a little wet on the morning of day 2, we did have our rain god with us and he worked like a charm. Vision was shite to say the least along with the leaf debris and bark strips all over the road. It did clear up half way along and once you passed the road work lights and car or 3 it was an epic run to Jaspers Lodge and on into Wauchope for guess what...
Long u-turn short we ended up in Port Macquarie for a late lunch before having to take the freeway  to get to the Nabiac turn off and onto the Bucketts Way back into Gloucester. It was far too late in the day to take in the museum so that will have to be another trip.

Early start for the run home which took in the same route plus a drive by the dairy before getting to Singleton then on to Denman and the glorious road The Bylong Valley way, the pace got a bit hot in places along the way and Andrew had to have a little lye down before getting into Rylstone. Last stop went through Lithgow to head home along Bells.

There are no stories we were all very well behaved and went to bed early each night to get maximum sleep before riding the next day.
Everyone drank water all day and all night, though we did lash out in the evening and have a twist of lemon in our ice water.
There are not many photos to look through (160, edited) I didn't shoot all that much this ride.

Set is here

In all, i counted 15 photos of cows MV.....a farmer at heart maybe.......??????? ;D

Ok Brian, you made me go look at Matty's photo's, yep, 16 photo's with cows, happy cows though.

I must ask though Brian, in all the photos with your mug in it there is only one with you smiling, I kid you not, go and have a look, and guess what he's smiling about folks.

Yep thats right, Teflon caught cleaning his bike on tour.

You're more than welcome to come around my place Teffie, bring your polishing rags

I guess no-one every really knew/knows, I love cows.
I could sit and watch them all day in a paddock.
