Also is this a common problem with Ducatis? It seems the PO was a lil overzealous with lubing the chain and it looks like the bracket that holds the pillion passenger foot pegs (not sure of the correct name) is all pitted and flaking from having grease flicked on it. Was considering getting them powdercoated again but was wondering if there was other options?

Cheers again guys.

The cheaper option i painted mine .You could get them powder coated that takes time.
I  removed sand blasted my rear sests, before painting.
Or remove them, sand  of the worst flaking paint and clean them up with some no fill sand paper thats the white looking paper.
Give them a good wipe with grease and wax remover.
And prime them with KH auto grey primer And use VHT wheel paint,or brake caliper paint both hard wearing, they make a silver thats a good match thats what i used.
As shown in the picture, below not the one that was modified buy Bw he will pay for that :-X [thumbsup]

If you use the caliper paint use a hair dryer to set it of. ;)
And it is common for the paint on the rear sets to flake off, have seen them crome plated. or you could go black yo match your frame. :-\

So you had the same problem? Was wondering if it was just only my monster with it.

I had a similar problem on a 620, i put it down to the fact that the bike came from Manly and was left outside under a cover.........
